Discover cards are far and few between here have a back up. Know your Pin number for your CC , bank cards, as you will need it to do anything. forget the checks both normal and travelers, they will not likely be accepted in Canada. Fuel prices expect to spend 30% more ( diesel 1.33 a Liter, Gas 1.03 a liter and its way down here, was 1.35 ) now that said, in BC Canada, its now Law you must Pre-pay all fuel, if you don't know how much they just put a hold on your card and charge actual no need to go back inside. if you normally carry firearms, bear spray , mace, better check first as you likely wont get across the border. Pets have there license's up to date along with shots and records on hand. think that's it, also know that double tow's are illegal in BC as well, so no pulling your RV and boat. your Wal-Mart = our Wal-mart your Harbor freight = our Princess Auto with a lot less cool stuff. and forget our Target stores they share a name that's it.Re: WISDOM OF A HITCH EXTENSTIONHow about a call to Curt and see if you could Drill the 2 inch shank with a new 5/8 inch hole to give you your 14 inch,(using the 16 inch version) or 14.5 for a little wiggle room without compromising the strength of the hitch. everyone I have seen I can slide the hitch into the receiver and usually have a few inches either way from where my locking pin actually fits. just throwing the Idea out, but if Curt or Reese or who ever says no, don't even think about it, if they say yes, any Machine shop can punch it out for you in a few minutes. (edited for clarity )Re: RV Across Canada Halifax-Vancouverquick side story, I have friends from the Dominican Republic, they look at an atlas and see the DR is two pages, they look at Canada and its 2 pages, he is 38 years old and has NEVER been to the other side of his own country, its a huge trip to him ( 270 km's) and that's un heard of, Heck Regina Sask, to its closest Large City Saskatoon is 250 km's. I would seriously reconsider your trip plans depending on what you are used to driving, and the shear size of our Country, you would be better to spend the month on the east, if you really want to go across Canada, as has been suggested, rent a local RV, tour the maritimes, jump a plane to Toronto, rent local, tour area, jump a plane to Calgary or Edmonton, rinse and repeat. you still have not told us what your interests are to help you out. I know personally I could spend a few days just around south western Saskatchewan walking the T.rex fossil trails, the exhibits there, while in Regina you can check out F division of the RCMP that is there training area, watch the Musical ride that is something to see, plus there museum that's another day. I don't want to discourage you, but your trip sounds like it will be very rushed I know myself I could easily spend a week in each province to see the sites, and know I am missing a lot. Good luck with the trip. take lots of pictures and really don't want to discourage you but I think you should seriously break down your trip into much smaller bites.Re: AttitudesWell as a new guy here, and still looking to buy a RV ( toy hauler ) I can say this forum has sure helped me out, it taught me the first salesman I talked to was more worried about his commission then MY safety towing that beast down the road. learned a lot of little things too. as for the go use the search function it has helped me, but I still have a few scratch my head moments on that Thingy or whatchamacallit, so the search function does not work for me. serious you do a search for that "Thing behind the door" oh yea, and raise you a " what's the best stinky slinky"Re: Renting my rvdoes not sound like a good idea, heck, I know how we treat the work truck, no way would I rent a RV to ME let alone joe public. but if you really want to do this, I can offer Insurance, its 100K a year, have a 5K deductible, allowed one claim a year to a max value of 20K. PM me if interested :)Re: Kids in the toyhauler?no kids, but personally I would suggest the TH, separate garage so they have there own room, put two small desks against the front wall so they can still lower the beds and not get in the way, room to haul there bikes or whatever when your camped. I would also suggest either a pull down screen for fresh air, OR even better the add a room deck kits for the ramp door to open up there play area. as said most now have ducted air and heat in the garage area ( or there own unit )so they should be very comfortable, look for an Arctic package / whatever its called based on the manufacturer. hey can never have enough insulation. also most have a separate door from the garage so the kids can come and go on there own I think the toughest choice will be the lower bunk, should it be a Dinette? 2 couches? anyway good luck, and go look at them only you can really know what will be best for you.Re: Card Lock Stationsuse the card lock here for the farm, its 2 filthy lights, and 2 gas and 6 diesel pumps, 1 is a normal, 4 are the high volume fill your semi type. and 1 dyed diesel ( farm ) pump, man is that cheap not paying the road taxes. 1 reg gas, 1 dyed gas again for off road use. but its 24/7/365 no silly prepay and 100 buck max per card swipe, yea locked down card usually after the 3rd shot. just swipe card, enter pin, and pump number and go to town and stop when tank is full. all the years I have used it, its usually always cheaper ( non dyed)or worse case same as regular pump price when prices swing. oh and we use the Petro-Canada card locks.Re: Tire monitor system questionok, not a tire guy, so I want to know, do they mount the tire then apply a vacuum to purge all the air out of the tire without sucking the sidewalls off the rim, and then fill with nitrogen? or do they just mount the tire like any normal shop, then just fill with Nitrogen? if so why are we paying a premium price for this service? air is already 78-79% Nitrogen already, so really your Nitro filled tires are what %? at what cost? ill stick to old fashioned air thanks.
