"We are fully cooperating with the FDA" and are using this "precautionary" measure because during a 2 months period early 2007 we used the same wheat gluten supplier as used by Menu Foods.." My answer.. They just realized NOW they had the same supplier.. I tell you.. this behavior is criminal....Re: Pet Food RecallJust got an e-mail from P&G (Iams and Eukanuba) here are a few sentences.. First, there is no melamine or aminopterin in any of our Iams and Eukanuba dry pet foods on store shelves. In fact, Iams and Eukanuba dry pet foods to DO NOT contain wheat gluten. Our dry dog and cat foods are made exclusively by P&G Pet Care and not by Menu Foods. Now this entire industry is taken over by lawyers..So each word and sentence is "well" crafted to withstand all legal scrutiny...Re: Pet Food RecallThe more they do research and analysis the more they find.. Just take the bag of your pet food and see the listing of all the ingredients..Rest assured they will find more.. Read HERE and HERE Iam's isn't clean either... read HERE ps disclaimer .. I have nothing to do with PETA and do not agree with some of their practices..However, some issues they raise are on target...Re: Pet Food Recall CA POPPY wrote: .......Have you heard exactly where the plant in question is? I swear, I've tried to pay attention, but the news is being pretty vague about it. Maybe afraid of repercussions? ............... Here a quote from Paul Henderson, their CEO Menu Foods' three U.S. and one Canadian factory produce more than 1 billion containers of wet pet food a year. The recall covers pet food made at company plants in Emporia, Kansas, and Pennsauken, New Jersey, Henderson said.Re: Pet Food Recall CA POPPY wrote: Ngataki wrote: let's import from China because it not only cheap but they also have very stringent Quality Controls.... Like we don't grow wheat in the USA I just realized today that the manufacturer of all this recalled dog and cat food is in Canada, not even in the USA. I've still got some IAMS flat cans in the cupboard and I don't see "product of canada" anywhere on it. Luckily, I don't see wheat mentioned on this particular variety, either. So the FDA is involved because it was sold here? I don't know how the heck we're supposed to protect our pets when we don't even know who makes what, or where. Would it ever have come out that one company makes pet food for 95 different labels? I rather doubt it. The company Menu Foods is Headquartered in Canada.. The plant(s) that produced the poisoned food is(are) in the USA.. The "possible" cause came from rat poison infected wheat gluten from China...Keep in mind that this Company does most probably a centralized purchasing for the cheapest ingredients they can find.. So if I were you.. If the product is made by Menu Foods and the "brand" name appears on their list... dump it..(don't worry about made in the USA and CA...) The Chinese ingredients is what did it...Re: Pet Food RecallTo save a few pennies, let's import from China because it not only cheap but they also have very stringent Quality Controls.... Like we don't grow wheat in the USA I just cannot understand this...Re: Pet Food RecallAfter I read THIS article...I am even more confused/scared now and will say bye bye to these brand names even for dry food..Will try Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance dry food.Re: Pet Food RecallAnybody with some experience about Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance dry food.. I think I am becoming nervous about Eukanuba also.. I always fed my dogs dry food.. But I am starting to get my doubts about these corrupt practices with the BIG NAMES..(4d food, etc.. give me a break..) :)
