All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: 2001 Dodge Pleasure Way Lexor TDWe have a 2000 Leisure Travel Van on the Dodge chassis with about 175000kms. If it is mechanically sound (engine, tranny, and all chassis gear) check the RV components carefully. Onan repairs, fridge repairs, plumbing, water, and even dump valve repairs, can be expensive going by today's hourly rates. If it has been looked after, and the price is right, it could turn out to be as enjoyable as our "old" van has been.Re: Roadtrek 190 Polpular TireI have used the XPS rib as well. Now using the Bridgestone R250. Very similar highly rated tire with similar construction and tread, however less expensive and North American made!Re: Leave CanadaWe are from Winnipeg and have left in October, November, December and January. Get a three day all clear forecast and you should be ok anytime. Cold the first day or two, but in most cases camping from then on. If you leave after early Nov. best to winterize the tanks and water lines. We have travelled from Florida across and through to California, and to pick a spot for the winter the first time away is cheating yourself. There are great places with good weather and bad weather, no matter where you go. Your rig has wheels and they are meant to turn. We still have not found the one place that has it all. (after 25 years of RVing) BarryRe: short trip report love the solarI have solar mounted on the roof of a 2000 LTV and used 3M 4000 UV Hybrid Adhesive Sealant under 4 L shaped brackets bolted to the solar panel. Wanted to avoid drilling hole in the fibreglass. The specs for the Sealant are on the 3M website. They advised this sealant because it is compatable with aluminum and fibreglas. Ran the wiring down the roof drain in the airconditioner mounting which your Roadtrek will not probably have.Re: water lines ?I also have a 2000 LTV. The water lines are inside the unit and not exposed, so they are difficult to access. The water tank is the only outside exposure but is insulated. As you have probably found where the water pump is under the passenger side rear wheel housing and the winter by-pass valves are under the passenger side of the sofa bed behind the removable panel. That is about all of the water lines you will find exposed except under the sink for the faucets. Not the easiest to trouble shoot, but when they build these things they start with bare walls and everything is built in to fit. Good luck with whatever you are up to. BarryRe: Vhb tape questionI mounted a solar panel on my 2000 LTV and because it was mounted using 4 aluminum brackets to allow cooling under the panel, rather than flat to the body of the van, 3M advised me to use Mounting/Sealant #4000 which they said is designed to adhere products of different chemical makeup. They were very helpfull with any questions I had. The sealant comes in a tube, is quick to dry, but has terrific sheer and dynamic holding power. The VHB tape was my first consideration until I talked to 3M and had difficulty finding the tape that I felt would do the job I was doing. Because of the heat generated by solar on the roof, I wanted ventilation under the panel, hence useing the mounting brackets to lift the panel 1/2 to 3/4 inch off the roof. Good luck which ever method you use. Don't hesitate to call 3M's toll free number for their advise. BarryRe: Autos or RVs parking lotIf you need to park in the truck area, the truckers would prefer you don't pull to the front of the parking spot, so when they approach they can see the spot is occupied and not have to get partially in the spot and find out there is a unit in the spot already but partially hidden. A real hassle for them.Re: Always double check your vehicle permit & VINWhen they checked my VIN at entry, the VIN on my registration showed a 2 instead of a Z. They accompanied me out to the MH to verify the error, but I had to show further proof of ownership with the proper VIN which is visible through the windshield. Fortunately I had a spec. sheet from the Manufacturer with signatures and such which they accepted as proof. Had registered the MH in my home province for years before, but nobody caught the error except Mexico on attempted entry. Now, tell me who is more efficient. BarryRe: Manitoba and Sasketchewan in Early AugustWhile you are visiting friends in Winnipeg, visit Lower Fort Garry, The Forks, and don't miss the Human Rights Museum. Fantastic architecture as well as world wide human rights history. Numerous other things, Zoo etc. but I'm sure your friends will direct you to their suggestions. Enjoy. BarryRe: Must Dos Winnipeg to Lake LouiseMuch to see and do depending on your route. Hwy 16 (Yellowhead) a much more interesting route north through Edmonton, but not as dramatic as through Banff/Jasper. One way going and return the other. Winnipeg has much to offer, however with time considerations, I would recommend Lower Fort Garry for history as well as the Forks. Definitely the Human Rights Museum (on the Forks grounds). One of a kind worldwide; architecturally and historicly. There is so much artistic and cultural festivals and events here, you could spend all summer, but then you would miss the amazing Yukon and Alaska. Enjoy your trip. Barry
