We contacted Ernie Ekberg about flooring and he advised us to put in engineered wood flooring that was put down with adhesive. The floor is beautiful and has endured the cold for two seasons beautifully.Re: National General RV InsuranceWe've had National General for our Pusher, cars and Harley for about 10 years. We've never had a problem, have had good customer service.Re: Towing behind a MHGoogle Tandem Tow Dolly. Maybe it will work for you, it's what we use.Re: New FlooringWishing you the best with your project. We had Allure installed twice, ripped it out and used a different product. Nice prep work, a huge job!Re: Is a visit to Quartzsite worth our timeWe left Quartzite yesterday, it was starting to get very busy. Lots of flea market stuff to see. If that is what you like, then you'll have an overload in just one day! Lol!Re: levelers used when storing RV?We store our rig in an enclosed steel building and we do use the levelers. The only reason is that IF there is a little varmit that got in the building, it will climb up the levelers somehow and get in. Don't know how they do it, but it will only happen with levelers down. That's our crazy reason.Re: Vinyl Plank FlooringWe installed Allure twice, well the shop installed it, and both times when it was cold weather the flooring would shrink and pull apart. It was a disaster. We consulted Ernie, he has responded on this thread, and found a great product that has handled the cold and hot.Re: Fleetwood Discovry or Monaco Safari CheetahI'm not saying which brand is better, just giving you our experience with our '07 Discovery. We have almost 45k miles and besides just general maintenance, all we have had to do to this coach is replace a jack. We've spent months in Alaska on their roads and it has held up well. Good luck with your search.Re: New floating floor: shouldn't it feel solid??It was a true floating floor. New carpet was put on the slides and everything else was Allure. Pilot and Co-Pilot chairs were removed and anything else that was on the floor. The 1/4 in. gap was left along the walls and the 1/4 round trim was attached to the wall not attached to the flooring. The shop did everything correctly, it was the product that was bad. They definitely lost money on us. I hope that answered your question. :) wolfe10 wrote: HobbsHauler wrote: We learned from Ernie about flooring. We had a floating floor installed three times by a professional rv business and everytime we would take it out and have cold evenings, the floor would pull apart slightly and stay that way. The floor would look beautiful when we would pick it up from the shop, but the first night out in chilly temps, it would look like ****. They finally ripped it out and will not ever install in a rv again. Good luck. A question: Was it TRULY installed floating or were there "fixed" items on top of the floor. A floating floor in an RV is a HUGE amount of extra work, as every piece of furniture installed on the floor must be installed on a "platform" just a slight bit thicker than the floor and a molding used that ONLY, repeat ONLY adheres to the wall. Any other method is a lot easier, but results in a "should be floating" floor that can NOT FLOAT and WILL warp/separate. Inquiring minds want to know.
