Does anyone take off their jacks to gain extra clearance for storage? Fronts are held with 3 bolts back ea has 4. It seems like I could gain several inches and maybe just enough to clear the garage door for storage, making it a twice a year procedure to keep winter off the TCRe: Will my 2014 F250 need overloads? My local dealer quoted me $500 for OEM over loads for my F250 which would basically make it a F350 w/o the emblems. I have a North Star 850SC which is 2500 wet and it rides fine as a stock F250. I am considering some upgrade but haven't decided which. To Tailgate or not to tailgate.I have a F250 Super Duty Crew cab short box. I an purchasing a NorthStar 850SC. This camper is designed to be used on a short or long box according to factory information so COG shouldn't be an issue. Camper does not have skirts and dealer said ok to run with tailgate done. I have heard both Yea and Nay on this practice. I would appreciate some more input from forum members.Re: Truck Camper University-Projects/Repairs/Replacements & TipsHow about a which campers can be loaded with tailgate down and which can't. I looked at 115+ pages of pictures here. Some with campers on short beds with gate down yet everyone recommends NOT doing it. Is there any guide anywhere?Pre plunge questionsI'm getting the itch to have a TC around for those sporting events we take the kids to. Basically I need an overnighter. I have a 2011 F250 four door 10,000gvw diesel short box. I am leaning towards a pop up so I can store it in my garage when not being used. Here are my issues. I see a lot of 8' campers in short beds with the tailgate down. Is this common and ok. My bed is 6'9. Could I just let the last foot hang in the air and take the tail gate off? I would like to tow a boat and clearance with gate down may be an issue. Secondly most of these units (my shopping is limited to the used market) have not bath rooms or showers. I think we could get by with no or a outside shower and I have no objection to a porta potty but what are folks doing about a privacy curtain? Third. Is there anything I should look for or avoid with popups?
