There was a least a 8 inch verticle edge that I hit at 30mph. Bounced our heads off the ceiling of the truck. Thank goodness for 19.5 tires with 90lbs psi and seat belts!!Re: Anyone have a Northern Lite 10-2 on a flatbed?I have a 10=2 NL on a '17 Ram 5500 with a Alum Line flat bed. I put boxes on both sides and with the storage in 4 side boxes in the bed I don't think my wife has enough "stuff". LOL Works great. We traveled from Ohio to Oregon last summer and had no issues what so ever. Like someone else said I had to put extensions on the dually brackets. Truck handles it really well.Re: Pros and cons on replacing 17" wheels and tires with 19.5"I put 19.5's on our 3500 DRW Ram with 10-2 SnowRiver before heading from Ohio to Alaska 3 years ago. I found more stable handling but when I hit a dreaded frost heave that had about a 8 inch square edge to blacktop at about 30 mph the 19.5 paid for themselves. It bounced our heads on the roof even with seatbelts fastened. I was positive I'd lost both front tires and likely the wheels too. No damage at all.Re: How many Northern Lite owners do we have? (revision 2)2017 10-2 EX CD SE on a 2017 Ram 5500 4x4 Alum Line flatbed Southeastern OhioRe: Northern Lite - the good the bad and the ugly.We bought a 2017 Northern Lite 10-2 in March this year to replace an '08 10-2 Snow River. The truck is a Ram 5500 4x4 with an Alum Line flat bed. The Snow River's center of gravity (CG) was 10" in front of the rear axel. I actually had to look in the mirrors to tell if the camper was on the truck. The Northern Lite CG is dead center above the rear axel. With the suspension of the 5500 it still handles better than any of the 6 different rigs we've owned over the last 40+ years. I've even removed the 2 1/2 round bumpers and now use a rubber mat to act as a bumper. While it's not a real issue, I still long for the "I've really got the camper on" feeling I once had!!Re: Bucket ListI had a little more than a half tank so it was more insurance than anything else but it tics me off when people take advantage of others simply because they can. This is plain and simple greed!Bucket ListWell we finally got a major item off our bucket list. Yesterday we got home from a 5 week, 10,948 mile road trip to Alaska and back. Granddaughter graduated from high school in norther Calif., no not San Francisco, Yreaka, really northern California. Since we had to be that far from home we figured what the heck it's only a few more miles. Up the Cassiar across the Top of the World to Chicken Ak. Then to visit friends in Anchorage and Hope and started the return trip via Fairbanks and down the Alaskan highway. Dawson Creek, Edmonton, Calgary and back in the states. Absolutely a trip of a lifetime. Having flown up a few years ago and spending 2 weeks in a rental car doing all the normal stuff. We just had to go back and explore some of the brush you look down on from the airplane. I've kicked around the Rockies and western states for the past 30-40 years and thought I'd been in some pretty desolate country. After this trip, I have a new definition of "in the brush". I did have to congratulate the lady at Liard Hot Springs, at $7.51 per gallon, she charged the highest price for diesel fuel of anywhere we had traveled. A full $0.55 per liter above anyone else.Re: How many TCers here?178
