Will I be able to find diesel exhaust fluid easily in Canada?Re: Rubber roof skin peeling back, need advice!2011 original roof.Rubber roof skin peeling back, need advice!I noticed my rubber roof was starting to get air bubbles underneath just behind the front cap transition. I used a tube of Dicor on the screw heads and along the seam between the front cap and the roofing material. I thought that would seal any air holes but now I notice the roof skin still ballooning up even when I am sitting still with a stiff wind blowing on the front. I am concerned my roof will balloon up while driving down the road and tear off. How do I get the skin fastened back down to the roof deck??Re: rv bloggersIf you want tons of great information and how-to about full timing you can read Howard and Linda's journals at www.rv-dreams.typepad.comRe: Ram 6.4/4.10 dually vs 2016 Ford 6.2/3.73 duallyI had a 2015 F350 dually 6.2 gasser with 4.30 gears, I'm towing a 14,000 lb 5er. What a mistake. It was woefully under powered when driving on any slight hill grades. It required driving with my foot on the floor board shifting using the manual shifter button. I traded it in for a 2012 F350 6.7 diesel dually which tows my rig with no problem. Go with a diesel if you need to pull any kind of weight.LP gas noisesI recently had my two 30 pound LP tanks filled on my 5th wheel. Since then whenever my refrigerator is operating on gas I can hear a chirping/whistling noise coming from one of the tanks outside. If I switch the auto valve to the other tank the noise stops. I checked to make sure the tank hand valve was fully open and that the hose connection was tight and there are no leaks. Any ideas what the chirping noise is ?Black Tank Backflush plugged at tank connectionI cannot get my black tank back flush unplugged. I have the hose feeding the tank cut about 2 feet from the connection to the tank so I could connect a water supply. It is very difficult to reach the actual fitting entering the tank or I would have taken that apart. I connected water supply to the short hose but cannot get water to flow into the tank. Question, is there a backflow device inside the black tank, if so how do I get it to open in order to clean the tank?Re: Alaska CaravanCheck out www.rvalaska.net they host 2 caravan trips each summer. We just returned from one of their 37 day tours, very well run, educational experience and fun group of 24 other rigs to travel with. They have a mechanic and medical supplies if needed. Our trip started in Hazelton, BC, and 2500 miles 37 days later we finished in Kenai, AK. We traveled to Dawson City and then to Chicken. Our leader Spike has been doing these trips over 20 years, he knows everything about the areas we traveled. Everyone is given a two way radio to travel with, Spike fills us in on what we are seeing along the way. Very highly recommend this tour group.Re: Ford superduty inventory ?Hedgehog, I have real world experience with an F350 6.2 gasser with 4.30 gears. We left Wisconsin the middle of May pulling a 36 foot 5er toy hauler, I weighed in at 14, 200 pounds. I am currently in Anchorage, Ak 5500 miles from home, we pulled up some 8 to 9% grade mountains (Rockies and the Top of the World Hwy). There were times I was in 2nd gear at 3500 rpm wondering if I was going to start rolling backwards down the mountain, that was when I wanted the disel torque. But, when the diesel guys went for their oil and service jobs and paid $400 plus and I paid less than $100 I was convinced I ordered the right engine. BTW, I am averaging 8.1 mpg pulling the rig. IMO, if you will be towing on mostly level ground the gasser will be fine, if planning on mountain driving, get the torquey diesel.Need advice on Canada to Alaska routeWe are planning our first RV trip to Alaska, leaving Wisconsin 5/20/15. I just need to know if this route is safe and what kind of mountain grades and low clearances I should expect. We plan on crossing into Canada at Carway, AB, take Route 2 to Calgary. Then take Route 1 Trans Canada to Lake Louise, AB. Then take Route 93 to Jasper. Then head west on Route 16 Yellowhead Hwy to Prince George, BC. Then continue on Route 16 to our group meeting point at Hazelton, BC. We will be towing a 36 ft 5er toy hauler, with an F350 dually gasser. Uphill grades will be a challenge for the gasser.
