Didn't cost much and drop off/pick up the same day. This is a great idea. We have a great local tire shop, I googled them and found a thread from 2013 where someone had them repack the wheel bearings on their RV. They charged $65 an axle vs. RV places that wanted $50 a wheel at the time. Definitely worth getting a quote on!Re: Where do you repack your wheel bearings? skipro3 wrote: Our local town has a business where you take your car and can fix it yourself using their facility. It's called 'U Do It Auto Repair http://www.udoitauto.com/ http://www.mtdemocrat.com/z_md-direct/save-the-big-bucks-at-u-do-it-auto-repair/ This is kind of what I was envisioning when I asked the question... this is so cool! I didn't really think something like this existed, I was just dreaming. DH is drooling... they should have these in every city. I don't think we are so lucky, but I will do some Googling!Re: Where do you repack your wheel bearings?LOL. I am a rule follower... one of my father in law's favorite things to tease me about (there are many!). I would never break a rule that I know exists! But I will double check to see if there is a 24 - 72 hour stipulation, not sure about that one. Otherwise it sounds like my best option is a dealer or RV repair facility. :)Re: Where do you repack your wheel bearings? donn0128 wrote: Take the tools and supplies necessary to the storage facility. Or at least call and ask them if you can Sorry, I should have specified that. We have asked at the storage facility and have been told we cannot do it there.Where do you repack your wheel bearings? We keep our RV at a RV storage place. We can't have it at our house due to HOA rules. Where do you repack your wheel bearings if you have a situation like this? We take our RV to a certain RV park near us that allows RV washing when we want to do that (weekend of camping and washing all in 1!) but I haven't found an RV park that will allow that level of maintenance. Thoughts, or do we have to just bite the bullet and get it done at the dealer?Re: How often do you buy new trailer? We've been married 7 years and bought our first TT 6 weeks after we got married. We sold our house and intended to live in our RV until we found a new home to purchase. Turned out - we loved living in the RV! Only, not that RV. It was a PERFECT RV for weekending, but a little small for living. So we bought a 5th wheel which we lived in for the next 2 years. Then commuting made it impractical for us to keep living in our RV, so we sold the 5th wheel. We were RV-less for about a year and a half. Last January (2013) we bought our current travel trailer, which is fairly similar to our original trailer. :)Re: List of RV's by features and optionsThis might help - you can't put on enough filters to get exactly what you're looking for, but it might help narrow some things down. http://www.rvingplanet.com/rv-finder/Re: *NO* Labor Day Horror stories!Yup, we had a great trip! We avoided most of the bad traffic Friday afternoon by taking side roads... took us a little longer, but less time than it would have been sitting in traffic plus none of the aggravation. Enjoyed a nice long weekend at a great RV park with friends and family. Watched football, had some great food, enjoyed an all day campfire, and generally had a good time!Re: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & GizmosThis weekend one of the gals camping with us showed up with this awesome little lantern! It's inflatable so it weighs basically nothing PLUS it is solar powered. It put out some nice little light. She bought it at a store in Southern Oregon, but Nordstrom seems to be the best place to buy it online (retail price and free shipping). Check out the website of the company though (mpowerd.com), they seem to have several variations. I already added this to my list of things to buy for the RV!Re: Wreath on RV exterior door Too Young to Retire wrote: They make a wreath hook that just hooks over the top of the door. It should also work on an RV. Google is your friend. found this on Amazon I do have one of those, but can't imagine it would work the way it works with a regular door because of the configuration of the RV door. Sounds like Command Hooks are the way to go! :)
