According to the installer, Blue Ox ( all of my tow equipment is Blue Ox ) changed the coiled cable wiring configuration a couple of years ago and my cable is the old configuration. He swapped a few wires around on the cord end, really just swapped the hot wire with the brake controller wire ( which I don't use ) and bam, I now a battery charging line. Not sure I buy the Blue Ox story but I don't care because now I have a properly working charge line. Thanks for all of the responses. ColmRe: Charging line to F150 toedI am towing with a Forest River FR3 gas MH. I have 13.4 volts at the MH plug and thru the coiled cable. I just bought this vehicle in April and had it set up for towing in May. Before this vehicle I was towing a Dodge Dakota truck so I am familiar with the process. I have not towed this Ford anywhere yet except for home from the install shop. We are leaving for a trip on Wednesday so I thought I would give the MH and F150 a good look-over and found this problem. No fuse is blown and there is no power to or thru the fuse. I have continuity from the cord connector plug to the ground wire on the battery but no continuity or voltage on the hot wire to the battery. It looks like the installer either smashed a wire or did not make a good connection at the plug which I cannot get to without removing alot of plastic trim. I will be taking it back to the installer but getting it fixed before Wednesday might be a issue. So, the question is, if the battery drains down far enough that the battery save system kicks in, will that affect my ability to tow 4 wheels down? Does any component, such as the transfer case etc. need power to stay locked out. ThanksCharging line to F150 toedI have just discovered that the 12volt charging line to my 2019 Ford F150 battery is not working. Turn signals, stop lights and portable brake system all work fine but I am not getting 12volts to the battery, the problem is between the connector and the battery. So my question, is the charging line to this vehicle necessary? If the battery charge on this vehicle gets to low will it cause a problem with the 4 down towing feature? Thanks in advance. They are right up the road from you in Odenton.Re: Newmar Slidout sealI have bought seals from Steele Rubber Products for my RV. They have a great selection and many different products. These things aren't cheap but they are far better than the OEM on my rig. https://www.steelerubber.com/Re: Where to get steering alignment done for a class A?Maybe a day trip is in order! https://www.hendersonslineup.com/Re: Industrial Strength Liars CFerguson wrote: Yeah bgum, very true about model years. That adds to the confusion in my post, i realize. I tried to keep my OP under novel length. The official last model year naming by the manufacturer is 2019. Of course some of those were delivered in 2018 and 2020, i think. I can understand a salesman stretching a bit and calling a 2019 a 2020. But when one tells me he can order me a 2021 to be built to my specs..............well, he wouldnt answer any email after i called him on it. This guy was with JC Penney selling appliances before he was layed off, now he is a RV salesman. Your doing your homework and now know what you want is not easily available, move on to TT that meets your needs. Less stress that way.Re: Pros and Cons of owning a class A RVTo the OP, if your main concern was the annual trip to Florida ( I will assume you are wintering there for this suggestion ) but why not just buy a 5th wheel or park model already on-site in some area of Florida you enjoy staying in and drive your newer smaller car there? There are many good deals to be found all around the state, just take you time and find one that works for you. Yes, the drive down will be a little onerous but it is just a few day's on the road both ways with a nice winter break in between. As far as the few local summer excursions you mentioned, the field is wide open from small TT's or pop-ups, tent camping or even renting yurts. Just another option.Re: From Md to California, Part 1Many thanks to all who have replied, I now have enough info to be dangerous for the first leg of this trip. Looking forward to the replies for Part 2, 3 and 4. Thanks again. ColmFrom Md to California, Part 1Hello all, I am planning a trip from Maryland to California that will last for several months, that is why I added Part 1 to the title, I will be seeking additional advice from you as the trip proceeds. Due to family matters the 1st leg of my trip will be to Santa Cruz, CA where I plan to stay for around 2 weeks so my questions will revolve around this part of the trip. 1) Please suggest some places around Santa Cruz to stay. I am open to staying in various locations including state / national parks, regular campgrounds and " RV resorts ". I do not mind moving around a few times just for the change of scenery. If possible, when recommending locations, add your favorite spots in the facility. 2) I plan to stop in Arizona for a few days on the way there. I would like your recommendation on a place to stay there for about 3 days. I am thinking about a nice resort on a lake or other scenic area, just for a little peaceful R & R. 3) Last but not least, we are leaving Maryland in January so I am looking for route options. I know this is weather dependent and the default route would be to head south down I95 and head west somewhere in Georgia, either taking I10 or getting on I40. If you could recommend a different route I should consider that would knock a day or two off the travel time, that would be great. Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions
