That is one thing I hate about my RAM compered to the Ford.Re: Big black antsOne thing to consider if it is carpenter ants is that they are attracted to rotting wood. We had some working their way into our house and eventually discovered that we had a leak in a shower and the wood curb under the tile was rotting. It could be a sign that your unit has a leak somewhere and wood rotting.Re: Looking to buy 2018 Ram rebates are horribleDennis Dillon is at least worth a look. I got 12K off my 2018 bighorn that I ordered and all of their trucks on the lot or ordered are around 10-12K off MSRP. If you research them they are well known for their deals and being upfront on the pricing.Re: Are Idaho Ram dealers worth the drive?Dennis Dillon is a volume dealer. They are actually a very small dealer in a small town but I was told they average 500 vehicles a week. I was surprised when I showed up though they pretty much looked like every other small town dealer I have seen. Nothing like the mega lots we have in Denver and Phoenix. but if you make a little on every vehicle and are selling nearly 100 a day your probably going to do ok.Re: Are Idaho Ram dealers worth the drive?Yeah I shopped my Dillon price around to 4 dealers locally they were all between 3 and 5K more. And would not guarantee that price if I ordered. Dillion was a no brainer for me. It cost me less than $300 to go pick it up including 1 night in a hotel. Some people are more than willing to pay the 3K for the convenience I am just a cheapskate and was up for a fun to me road trip.Re: Are Idaho Ram dealers worth the drive?I ordered a 2018 RAM from Dennis Dillon. I would purchase from them again. They give you the price when you place the order and they honored that price when I picked it up. They were waiting at the Boise airport when I arrived and the whole process at the dealer was super smooth. They made a mistake on the finance paperwork and had to fedex me a new copy to sign which delayed the loan a week past the first payment due date. They paid the first payment for me without even asking and never asked me to repay them I guess since it was their mistake. Honestly you can't beat that in my opinion. I shopped their price locally and dealers here were about 3-4K more expensive after negotiating with them for a few days. The price on their website is accurate but it is the higher of the two prices typically. They are very upfront about that. The lowest price is available but you have to qualify for the additional programs RAM has going like owning a certain type of business or having a membership with certain organizations. Basically after watching their prices for a year or so you can pretty much count on 11K off MSRP. Lower priced trucks might be closer to 10K off and more expensive trucks closer to 12K off. Hope this information helps.Re: pellet smokers/grillsCamp Chef makes a good one as well. I love my full size camp chef smoker and use it for everything.Re: Gooseneck fifth wheel adapter questionAnother feature i like about the Andersen Ultimate is that once you drop the trailer It is easier to be sure your hitched correctly and won't drop the trailer on your truck. 5th wheels can be a little more finicky that way. The only down side is that you will end up using your landing gear a little more. Specially when unhitching. It is also slightly slower to unhitch since you have to get the trailer coupler all the way above the ball.Re: How do you guys carry bicycles inside?Just an idea but I built a bike rack that uses the crank arm to hold the bikes upright. It has a square tube with a slot cut for the peddle. This is what all the shuttle vans typically use. I made mine to hold 3 bikes and it works really well. I just set it on the floor in the trailer on a mat or piece of carpet and with the three bikes it does not move at all. Here is a pic of one https://forums.mtbr.com/cars-bike-racks/shuttle-van-type-rack-holds-crank-arm-890794.html Typically the shuttle companies drop a rag over the top of the tube and push the crank arm down through the rag to protect the crank arm.Re: Question for 2017 or newer F-350 DRW, and F-450 owners?I will add a couple of things. The adaptive cruise and 360 camera options are some of the best available for any brand. The only issue we had with our 2018 is that the valve stems leaked and had to be replaced. I think a total of 4 of the 6 have leaked and resulted in 3 trips to the dealer. Other than that the truck has been flawless and tows the 16.5K toy hauler fine. I also have a 2018 Ram CTD SRW and I will say as far as power towing that same trailer the Ford and RAM are identical. The Ford seems to have a slight advantage with better mileage. The Ford has by far the better technologies avail.
