I used to flat tow, but trailering suits my needs better. I chose our 26'C because it had the E450 chassis on the smallest MH available. Same chassis as the longer 29-31' C class, but with less overhang and more unused capacity. The next smaller size is on an E350. I also added some welds along where the hitch meets the frame to make me feel better. The factory hitch mounts with large bolts only. It was a compromise because I would rather not have the rear corner bed that comes on the 26'. When I upgrade, I will be looking at Super C motorhomes, but my set up has been working for me. At least 7 other friends in my club are also trailering Jeeps with their class C. TJDave, Are you still running the above combination? I'm seriously looking at something similar and wanted to know your current thoughts? (My "Jeep" is 4480 lbs (trail ready) and I have the lightest trailer I can find at 1300 lbs). I'd be overweight for the 5000 lb hitches and at capacity for the more rare units with a 6000 lb hitch.Re: HEY we need a sticky for our TT pics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ReneeG wrote: ..... By your comments you seem to be a reasonable person even if you do have kids ;)...... Well, we are from Utah. So reasonable is a moving target :D I'd be interested to know your experience at Red Rock. Sounds like our crew wants to head that way again. (here's to deezel being less than $3.50 for the next trip...)Re: HEY we need a sticky for our TT pics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ReneeG wrote: Mbryson - thanks for the quick reply. I actually posted an inquiry on this resort and got back some pretty bad replys - RVparkreview was also bad. Was it easy to get around with your long TT? What about mosquitos - are they bad? We may just drive up and check them out. Thanks. Well, we did have a few issues. Some with the park, some with the skeeters and some with other guests. We've never had an issue ANYWHERE we've camped and I'm quite land use conscious. We have kids and dogs and they were supposedly welcome there. Getting my trailer in there wasn't too bad. The fiver behind me we had a hell of a time getting in there (driver is quite experienced (spotter not so much), but it's a new trailer to them--tight spot, though), but we got him out EASY with my help and I tried to teach the spotter a little. We pretty much had to deal with camp staff at least once per day dealing from some complaint from a neighbor or something? We had a complaint that the kids were throwing rocks at chipmunks the first night. OK, they're kids, we didn't tell them NOT to, but they wouldn't fess up to that even after we had a chat about that (normally they would) and it's not a big deal to me. Good luck hitting a chipmunk with a rock. We told them they'd have to stay within our circle of four trailers and find stuff to do within that for the rest of the week unless they were accompanied by an adult somewhere else. All four of our group have little kids (11-2 years old). We're pretty conscious about not offending people without kids and dealing with the kids' safety and what not. One of the guys was SEVERELY chastised in the dark by someone about driving too fast and I didn't notice his speed or anything, but I doubt he was going too fast. He was backing his truck up with kids around. I can't imagine he was flying around. 5 mph is too fast and the posted speed which I think is quite reasonable for dust and safety reasons? Skeeters were pretty bad, but we're right on the edge of a lake. I wonder if they could install some of those propane skeeter attractors around the site and fix that, though. One of the dump pipes upper fittings in our group's sites wasn't even glued to the riser so we had a bit of a spill when we first started dumping....at least it was galley water and not black tank. If we do the Jellystone thing again, I think we'll be looking for another park. There was one in town (just off Yellowstone Ave.) over by the hardware store that looked quite nice and roomy (no idea on pricing or anything else, just looked nice as I drove by). I like to be "remote", but for how often we ran to town, I'd have just as soon been in town. OK, so maybe the park did suck.....;) Seriously, the staff did seem OK, but maybe a little on the "camp nazi" side. I've had worse, though. They never did get real grumpy with us, though. I think they were just trying to appease the complainers, whomever they were. I had a good trip, though. I'd do it again, but likely at a different park. I'm angling for the Grand Canyon next year, though.Re: HEY we need a sticky for our TT pics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ReneeG wrote: mbryson - where in Yellowstone did you camp? We too have a long TT and you fit in there nice. Also, looks like your dog is a Drathaar - similar to a wire haired pointer. We have one too! Great companions. That was at Madison Arm Resort. You take a turn off about 3 miles out of town and take a dirt road for about 5 miles. Pretty cool area. The dog isn't mine (it's the guy next doors in the Holiday Rambler Toy Hauler), but it's a German Wirehair. Cool dog and very well trained.Re: HEY we need a sticky for our TT pics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CampingMachineGuy wrote: I take photos of our trailer everywhere we camp. Our website is filling up with them. Just returned from Bear Lake, Utah with a few new rig photos. Plus, of course, the one in our signature... :-) Cool! As far as I know, you and I are the only northern UT folks on here. Nice rig. We're headed to Hebeken lake (just outside Yellowstone) in the morning for a week with a few neighbors.Re: Cool Mods - Thread restored 10/18/2012 got yfz? wrote: We have spent the past few weeks follwing this thread and doing several mods to our toyhauler so I thought I would share since I love looking at the pictures. This is my first try at posting pics so here goes nothing . . . The first thing we did was flip the axles for more ground clearance Before After Kim NICE. Did you just do a 'springover' (our drop axle perches are under the axle tube, I was going to simply weld new perches above the axle tube and reinstall) or did you flip the drop axles? edit: nevermind. I just read that you had a local dealer do it. Good photos, though. :DRe: HEY we need a sticky for our TT pics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Well here's ours. New guy from Utah. I think the trailer is going to get the spring-over. It's just too low for Utah, IMHO. here's my other addiction ...my wife was NOT interested in a toy hauler as she's not interested that pile of "Jeep". :D
