But think what you want, I dont give two ****sRe: Antifreeze Coolant Xchange Turtle n Peeps wrote: I know for the Duramax's its every 50K miles. You know from who? Certainly not from GM engineers. :R I know that from my owners manual, if you would read the thing, you might learn something. They tend to come in handy with things like this. About the only thing I vary on from it is oil changes and FF changes, because I don't use what comes in it from the factory. Butter me up and grill me for that too.Re: 5th adapterNothing wrong with the B&W Companion. Though if you want a trailer larger than 18K, I'd look into a Curt GN with the 5er adapter plate and one of their 20 or 24K hitches, or any other brand hitch, since their adapter is basically standard bed rails.Re: Cracker BarrelI had a company truck break down on me once and that's where I made it. I let the manager know that the truck would be there overnight until we could get a trailer to get it. He was very nice and I even got a free piece of cake! I do second scoping out the location before pulling in though, some of them can be VERY tight.Re: Antifreeze Coolant XchangeI know for the Duramax's its every 50K miles. I doubt mine has ever been changed, bought used, so thats up on my list of things to do. Make sure you are using the correct coolant as well.Re: Upgraded My Truck CWSWine wrote: I do have a couple of questions, guess it really kinda late since the truck will be here Monday or Tuesday. 1. This truck has the Z71 option, will that have any affect on towing? 2. The truck also comes with 20 inches tires, is that a positive or negative affect on towing. 3. I was told "By a Salesman" that we don't need to use trailer mode since our trailer is less than 70 percent of the gross towable weight of the truck and not using it will increase our fuel mileage. The only time that I would want to use it would be in the mountains to take advantage of the exhaust breaking. Is this true? 1. All that adds are some stickers and a skid plate over the Tcase I believe. Nothing real special like they want you to think. 2. I think you mean the 20" rims, which will have no impact on towing. Not sure of the overall tire size, but I think it should be close to 32", so you have a slightly smaller sidewall. As long as you are under what each tire is rated for, you will be fine. 3. Since when should you ever believe a salesman? Tow haul in these trucks are great. Do you need it? NO, but I would use it. It adjust line pressure in the trans to help keep it cooler, which in a LML is already pretty cool thanks to half the line pressure as previous years, and it also changes shift points to allow better engine braking and control speed on grades. What I do a lot of the time is use it until I am at cruising speed on the highway. Although usually by putting it in 5th gear at 65 MPH I will see better mileage, lower EGTs, and lower Trans Temps. Tow Haul really comes in handy on grades. Set cruise, make sure the Exhaust Brake is on, and watch it do its thing. You should be within a few MPH of your set speed going down grades without use of the brakes. Pretty cool stuff. Check out Duramaxfourm.com for some great info.Re: Is there a gas efficient SUV with decent tow capacity?I would not buy a 07.5+ diesel unless you are gonna work it hard all the time, you are commercial or plan on deleting it. Too much to go wrong and will go wrong. Pretty much all of the issues are with the Emissions. One their gone, no more issues. These new trucks are not for short trips or lots of traffic. If you want a good reliable powerful diesel, I'd go with a LBZ Duramax, 06-07. Minimal emissions and the 6 speed Ally. You should get high teens low twenties unloaded, and 11-14 loaded. I used to drive a 06 for work and found myself more than once doing 95+ towing a 18K pound trailer with plenty of power left. My LMM,07.5-10, will do the same, but moreso since I dont have a speed limiter. The crew cab is nice and roomy, with plenty of space for all my crap. Plus I have a 8' bed for everything else, because you never know what you might need to lug around. Diesels are not cheap up front or cheap to maintain, but will yeild you many long years and many hard miles before needing major repair. I think the deciding factor used to be over 25K miles a year a diesel will be cheaper, under that a gasser is better. I don't care what the numbers say, I will never own a gasser again.Re: Duramax bites the dust - Blown head gasket @ 102K miles FishOnOne wrote: MARK VANDERBENT wrote: 5600 not to bad. Friend I work with had hid 08 Harley ford 6.4 go south and he is spending 16,000 on a new motor that ford did not cover. I know you didn't get a new motor but sounds like your set for the long haul!! Wonder what this guy had to spend to get his engine repair that GM didn't cover? :W Ya'll do know that Ford is not a division of GM, right? HAHA And for $16K I could have a full on race engine, trans, turbos, the works. Granted I would have to do all the work my self, but that $16K would be well spent.Re: why Win 8?I rather liked Win 95 and XP. Then came Win 7, which I like more than XP. Then my laptop broke and I had to buy a new one for work. It came with Win 8. Had it a week now, and I like it. Easy to use, fast start up, and its almost the same as Win 7. Its just one click to get to the desktop and start menu. The girls at the office hated it, but once they got it setup how they wanted and got used to it, they like it now. Guess that the benefit to being young. Took me all of 10 mins to figure out most the differences. And you can still run multiple windows at the same time, just like Win 7 or before. This Dell Inspiron with the i3 and Win 8 is more than twice as fast as my old Sony with the i7 and Win 7Re: New to Me JaycoThose strong arm things look nice, but expensive. I may be able to fab something up though. Now the question on the air pin box. Why? To be honest I think my truck rode better with the 5er hooked up. I have pulled GNs with a similar truck to mine and that can be a hard ride, but those trailers were also twice the weight of this. And I was thinking that with this being a lower profile trailer, I'd do better on mileage. I guess I'm doing alright, because I used to get 9-10 loaded(pulling equiptment trailers) and now that I'm tuned, I'm doing slightly better.
