All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsDIY electrical systemSo.. I have a pickup camper and want to create an additional charging system. My truck has two "trailer" hookups. I assume one is for the Camper and the other for a trailer. I'd like to use the trailer receptacle to create a separate system to charge 2 12V batteries to run underbelly heaters. I routinely camp in -20F. It would be great to "mount" this system on a hitch rack too (thus removable). Anyone done anything similar or know how I would go about it? Thanks-GregTrailer connectI have a question regarding "Trailer Connect" on my Ford F350. I have both a 5th wheel and slide-in camper. The 5th wheel seems to just "connect" if the truck is running. The Slide-in camper only "connects" once I press the brake on the truck. Anyone know why? I'd like for the slide-in to "connect" without depressing the brake. I have my reason I can get into later but in short I want the batteries in the camper to start charging from a remote truck start. Which I think it does with the 5er. Cheers, GregRe: Furnace low voltage limitThanks for all the replies. Its an Atwood furnace and brand new. I took the sail switch out and it was clean as a whistle and "looked" fine. Intersting comment about Yellowstone as I am in Gardiner :-) Most of my camping is above 6000ft for sure. Back in 2010, I had a Halmark pop-up and NEVER had this issue. I consitantly camped at elevation in the WINTER.. Never a problem. Cheers-GregFurnace low voltage limitHey All, What do you suspect the lowest voltage is that I need to "ignite" my furnace? Everything about my furnace works great on shore power or above 12.1V. Under that, the sail switch does not seem to close and I get no ignition (only blower activation). Does this seem right? I thought I should be able to ignite much lower than 12.1V. YEs I know 10.5 is the bottom limit. Thanks!
