This is the reason for permits and inspections.Re: Time to ride dedmiston wrote: Dirtclods wrote: The dirt roads were still in pretty good condition. The two dry lakes weren't dry. A bit chilly it got down to 23 degrees at night. Riding conditions were outstanding. We weren't too far away (Dirt Diggers Camp) and the trails were perfect. Not a speck of dust. We'll be at Teagle Wash next weekend. We plan to be closer to Cal City this coming weekend, might actually be in Cal City or right on the edge of it off of Randsburg Road. I'd don't plan on doing a lot of riding, like our last 2 trips when we were with friends; this is going to be a more relaxing type of camping/riding trip with my bride. Weather is looking good for this coming weekend.Re: Time to ride Dirtclods wrote: The dirt roads were still in pretty good condition. The two dry lakes weren't dry. Still a good time.Re: Onboard generators 2oldman wrote: mrw8i wrote: Generator. Easiest way to make coffee in the morning. If you don't have an inverter. Leaving for the Sequoias this week. Not taking the 35' TH, taking a 17' bumper pull. Leaving portable gen at home, no reason for it (have solar). Coffee will be, boiling water, pouring into a Malita style Funnel with filter into a insulated caraffe.Re: Onboard generators Dirtclods wrote: mrw8i ~ Generator. Easiest way to make coffee / I still use an old stovetop coffee percolator. Most of my buddies have propane generators And No issues at all. No problem. Differing ideas, thoughts, opinions, observations, and "what I've heard" are all good.Re: Onboard generatorsGenerator. Easiest way to make coffee in the morning. Also gets a head start on re-charging the batteries after running the heater quite a bit overnight, solar charges them back up the rest of the day. Once and awhile use the generator for AC. Propane or gasoline? I've heard nothing but bad things about propane generators. Gasoline, I've had no issues with it.Re: Costco batteriesMy 35' Toy Hauler has four 5-year old Costco (cheap Interstate), still going strong. I have a watering system on them so easy to add water every month. My 17' trailer has two 5-year old Costco, both bad. I did not keep up with adding water, because it's difficult to get to them, I should have put a watering system on them. Today I bought two new Costco (cheap Interstate) batteries to replace the two that went bad (my negligence).Re: Mammoth Area Camping - Inyo NFI read somewhere that so many people are dispersed camping in the forest around there it was becoming a mess. Many dumping trash and tanks in the forest. City of Mammoth has asked dispersed campers to use the dump station at the Water District facility in Mammoth City and not dump in the forest. They have opened a lot, not all, of the National Forest campgrounds in Mammoth and June Lakes to try get people out of the forest.Re: OHV Camping and RidingIt looks like Mammoth Lakes/June Lake area is starting to open, or getting ready to open. Some of the FS campgrounds are open, not all, need to check first.Re: OHV Camping and Riding josslund wrote: Thanks, I appreciate the information. I'm not planning to go until late summer early fall, so hopefully things will be a little more normal then. I know that Twin Lakes opened this past weekend. Some of the Bridgeport area opened, and I think the Virginia Lakes area opened as well.
