We purchased a Palomino 1240 and installed Timbrens and it rides beautifully, there are even lighter models in the backpack line. Also Four Wheel Drive campers specialize in light campers that easily fit a 1/2 ton, but they are pricier than the Palomino. Good luck!Re: 1/2 ton ChevyYou might want to look at the popup line of campers by Palomino. There are some that will work with a half ton. There is also "4 Wheel Campers" that will even go on a Ranger or Tacoma, but you pay for the lack of weight. I have a half ton and ended up putting Timbrens on my rear suspension because my camper puts me right at my capacity, but that is before I get in the truck, my wife the dog, and the camping supplies. With the added help of the Timbrens the truck rides beautifully, but I know I'm still riding heavy. I may add helper springs before I'm done.Re: Question re: Pop up Truck CamperI just purchased a Palomino Backpack SS-1240 that I really like. It was one of the most economical models I could find that had the things that I wanted. They have several styles and floor plans. Might be worth looking at.Re: Palomino Backpack SS1240Thanks for the info. Tried the fan; worked like a charm (still tucked in at side posts) and stopped the top about 2-3" from full down to turn off the fan, then brought it the rest of the way down.Palomino Backpack SS1240I just purchased a softside Palomino Backpack SS 1240 and I was interested in any tips other softside owners might have, and things to look out for. I'm excited to start truck camping! Michael
