By sway, I mean, when I semi passes me or cross wind, I'm getting sucked into the semi or pushed around a little. It usually resolves quickly, but having to continually worry about semi's sucks. Don't get me wrong, I'm always checking my mirrors anyway but not knowing how much I'll be sucked into a semi sucks. For further clarity, I have leveled the front of the truck and from friends conversations, it sounds like that's also not helping. Having the truck lowered this week and hope that it helps.Re: Equilizer vs. Blue ox SwayPro? goducks10 wrote: I've used both and neither is any better. I'm currently using a BO with a 31' 9600 lb TT with a 1350 lb tongue weight. Towing with a 3500 SRW. I still get some wiggle. You TT is a big load for a 2500 Burb. $800 is too much for the BO. You can buy one off Amazon for $630. I'd buy the 1400 bars and crank em down till you get the front of the Burb right. Thanks for all your insights. "front of the burb right"? What are you referring to?Equilizer vs. Blue ox SwayPro?We're leaving on a long trip(16+hrs) in a couple weeks. Currently have an equilizer hitch with 1200# bars. TT is a Salem 30KQBSS towed by a 2012 Surburban 2500. The equilizer works pretty well but I still get a little sway with heavy cross winds or when a semi passes. Usually cruise 65-70mph. Was thinking I needed bigger bars(1400#) to eliminate the sway. Called dealer and they advocated for me to switch to a Blue Ox Sway Pro. New bars are $2-300. New blue ox is close to $800. What would you do? Trailer dry weight is 6900#. Tongue weight, unloaded 900#. Loaded, I'm thinking it's closer to 8500# and 1200 tongue although I've never had it weighed. When connected, the truck & TT are level so I don't think its a set up issue... Thoughts?Re: GM 6.0 gear searching.....Thanks everyone! The trip went well. Madison, WI - Bowling Green, KY. Tow/haul shifted to manual and limited trans to 5th gear. Highest trans temps got was about 165-170. On several flat stretches I was able to get it to hold 73-4mph in 5th gear around 2500rpm. Was happy with that. Otherwise, it was holding 3-3300rpm to keep 65-70 through rolling hills..Re: GM 6.0 gear searching.....HA! Yes, can't remember if a school bus passed us out there but we were crawling. Felt like it was the little engine that could. Seriously, crawling up some of those hills.Re: GM 6.0 gear searching.....Thanks everyone! Correct. It has the 3.73 and i do use the tow/haul mode. Just double checking cause 3k seemed high as this was the first "big" thing I've towed outside of boats and snowmobiles. Took a trip last year to Smokey Mountains. Got really nervous when trans started heating up through the hills(~200). Have made it a practice to have it flushed and new filter before long trips. Live in Wisconsin. Heading to Kentucky this spring break. Had heard that GM was going to put diesels back in surburbans. Might be happening for 2019?? Don't know if i can stomach $80-90k though.....GM 6.0 gear searching.....Help?? While this may have been covered to some extent on this forum or another, I'm looking for suggestions for my 2012 Suburban 2500 with the 6.0l engine. Towing my boat(04 Nautique) it's awesome. Hardly know the boat is there. However, when hauling our 30ft camper it's a different story. Camper weighs 6900lbs empty. Fully loaded it's probably close to 8000 not including wife, 3 kids, dog and misc stuff in the truck. Can't keep it 60-65 without it searching for a gear it "likes". I usually downshift manually but tach is constantly at 3k. What to do? Love the truck. Kids are happy in back and plenty of space. Called a couple shops. 1 suggestion was to modify computer? 2 suggested cold air intake, tuner, & exhaust? Does any of it work?? There's got to be something I can do. Slowing down only makes me feel like a traffic hazzard. Would like to be able to pull at least 65mph on the highway....
