You will not get most US Network programming in HD as they default to the Canadian channels if the same program is shown on both. Not quite accurate. We are in Tucson right now and listening to Canadian radio on Shaw. I just tuned to CTV Toronto in HD ( channel 534, you may have different channel mapping), CBC Toronto next to it at 533 is also in HD, both must be on one of the older sats. Yes there are a couple of the toronto channels still in hd but don’t dilude yourself - just about all of them are gone once you cross the border. Btw there are 2 guide configs available. The original guide and a new one with rearranged channels.Re: Another Shaw Direct Question Lenny K wrote: Joe if I remember right you are in Mesa. Are you still getting the prime time channels in HD? Most of the specialty channels such as TSN are still available in HD.Re: Passports?? They often have a line for those without passports and even that line moves right along. If he's a US citizen, he's not required to produce any documents to enter the US. All the documents do is speed things up, but they are not required (regardless what anyone says) of US citizens. Your word is all that is needed to gain entrance. I've seen that attitude, at least 3 times, at the Andrade crossing from Mexico into the US. US Citizen- "Hi I'm a citizen. CBP- "Prove it." Citizen- "You have to let me in" CBP- "No problem just prove you're a citizen and you can come in."Re: Cellphone Based Data Providers Recommendation Lenny K wrote: CardinalRule wrote: sole seeker wrote: Lenny K wrote: I'm going to try the Telus Canada/US plan this year for data, talk and text. It's nice to make calls all over the US and Canada with no worries. Great news Dave. How big of a data plan do you have? Do you use your phone as a hotspot? I have 2.5 Gigs but could up it to 6 Gigs for another $10.00 (I think). I don't use a lot of data and find I leave about 1/2G on the table every month. Very seldom do I use my phone as a hotspot but do on occasion.Re: Cellphone Based Data Providers Recommendation sole seeker wrote: Lenny K wrote: I'm going to try the Telus Canada/US plan this year for data, talk and text. I'm from Canada and found their service exceptional on both sides of the border. We kept our existing Coach Net service for the car until it expired this spring. I didn't renew with them or any other service because I don't need it with the car. With my cell phone and my Acuralink service I feel quite comfortable without any roadside service. I highly recommend Coach Net.Re: Controlling electric costs monthly GoPackGo wrote: In order to determine if it's cheaper to run on electric vs propane you need to know two things that are specific to YOUR location - 1. Propane cost/gallon. Check several places, including hardware stores, and a local propane distributor. 2. Electricity KWH cost. Ask the CG/park what rate they charge. I've seen a formula which allows you to plug in the info you've found and it will then tell you whether it's cheaper to use propane or electricity. Search for it, or maybe someone can post it. Biggest electricity hogs - air conditioners, electric heaters, electric hot water heaters, clothes dryers. Microwave ovens use a lot but they only run for short periods of time. I've 'heard' that TVs consume lots of electricity. Your furnace will use lots of propane, but usage will depend on outside temps so it may not be much if in Florida, for example. The hot water heater also uses lots of propane (as compared to a stove top burner). Maybe don't leave it on all the time. Same idea if it is running on electric. If electricity is expensive it may be worthwhile for you change out your interior lighting to LED bulbs. They consume much less electricity, are WAY cooler (saves on AC), and last forever. Here it is: Propane Vs ElectricRe: Discover Card in CanadaI have a Chase/Amazon Visa card. No transaction or annual fee and works great as a backup. Exchange rate is comparable to other cards. Go to Amazon and check it out.
