I remembered it, just the other day when I had a squished bug stuck to my windshield. I was told to use a wet/soapy scrap of indoor outdoor carpet to clean the bugs off the front of the rv, front bumper of the truck, windshield, etc. It works with out a lot of scrubbing, or scratching. As for the fur babies licking popsicle, I am with you MechanicalNut my Dh has taught ours to eat ice cream from a spoon............. ewwwww! LOL As for letting them eat from the plate, I am not so freaky about it, cause I look at it this way. I am not eating after them, and I am going to wash the plate. They probably should be more worried about eating after us! BellaRe: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & GizmosHave a wonderful time campernuts! I am sure you will have lots of ideas to add after your first trip, you will find things along the way that would make you wonder how to resolve it. That's what's so great about this topic. Enjoy! Rv-BellaRe: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & Gizmoshershey, it was buried 10 inches down, the guy hammered a rebar thing that far down cause he had it blow away at other places he stayed and didn't want to lose his flag pole again.......... Go figure! I asked if he was drilling for oil:h. Rv-BellaRe: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & GizmosJust a reply of caution, Please be careful when hammering stakes, pipes, etc into the ground at Campgrounds and Rv parks. Dh and I owned a Park and had someone hammer thru water pipe, not fun! Took sometime finding that one! Water was easy to find, the punctured pipe was not! All that digging up (grass)and searching just so someone could have a darn football teams flag pole! Rv-BellaRe: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & GizmosYes Cruzette, is right. An herbal store. It can be hard to find on the shelf, but if you ask they can useally order it for you. It dosen't take alot! I have had my bottle for several years, I just dip a Q-tip in and run the Q-tip around the window frames and drop a drop or two on rag and rub over the screen. Rv-BellaRe: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & GizmosTo add to what Shirley and Fred said, You can also buy bay leaf oil and wipe down your screen's and widow frames with it. As S&F said they hate the smell. I heard it as a hint to keep flies and gnats out. So I suppose it would work just as well for keeping ants out. hmmmm. Rv-BellaRe: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & GizmosYour Welcome GizmosMom. Hair care is not as big of deal, But skin care is huge issue. You don't want your skin breaking out, or a reaction because of rancid product. RvBellaRe: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & GizmosGreat hints and tips, seen and tried some, some I have never heard of before. The one tip I will add, have seen many tips on electrical. But have rarely had issues when I keep this hand out I was given years ago in mind. Have passed it along to many newbies as well as us oldtimers as a reminder. Also helps the kids start to understand what the rig can and can not handle. Of course each and every appliance is different depending on manufacture. Coffee pot 11-amps crock pot 1.5-amps Electric Frying pan 10-amps Hair dryer 10-amps Iron 10-amps Toaster 10-amps Microwave 12.5-amps Refrigerator 4.0-amps Tv 2-amps curling iron 10-amps computer 4.5-amps Water heater (electric)12.5-amps Just the converter alone with nothing in use is 1.5-amps Another hint I learned from a fellow rv-er was to use a small piece of indoor/outdoor carpet to clean bugs off the front of the rig. It works, don't know why but it does. just cut a 4 inch by 4 inch or smaller square and scrub with it. He was a retired trucker and told me he had used it for years on his semi.. Oh and a little tip/precaution for those of you who use the sample pack, as well as anyone who leaves their skin care/hair care products in the rv. I use to work for a Hair care manufacture and we didn't recommend having your product introduced to so many temp changes, the product is designed for room temperature, not Hot and cold hot, cold. It could go rancid faster from the temp changes as well as just being old product. Plus sample packs and travel sizes are meant to be used within a few months. If you watch on your shampoo/skincare bottles you will find a expiration date. Fulltimers don't have an issue as most of the time their rigs are at about the same temp because they don't park it idle for months at a time and because they use their products daily, weekly and it get used up faster. Just a precaution! Rv-Bella
