All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Long distance trip - need your advice pleaseBest part of RVing is taking your time! It's about the journey, not the destination. Is it better to push through and arrive exhausted, or break the trip down into smaller bites that allow you to stop, relax, and arrive refreshed? My own personal rule is 300 miles or 3PM. When I hit either one of those, I'm thinking about where to stop for the night. Just my 2 cents...Re: Dark sky campingGotta put a good word in for Great Basin NP in Northern Nevada. A designated Dark Skies location, it's awesome for stargazing!Re: AlbuquerqueHit Sadie's Restaurant for some delicious authentic Mexican food. Old Town is worth checking out. I'm jinxed with the Tram (I've ridden it three times, and been stuck at the top all three times, weather twice, mechanical failure once, and no, it's not unreliable, it just doesn't like me). The National Atomic Museum also gets a vote. Breakfast at the Frontier Restaurant on Central Avenue (and take the time to drive the entire length of Central Avenue if you get the chance, it's one of the last pieces of Route 66 left). The Natural History Museum is worth a stop.Re: GPS purchasex3 for CoPilot. Especially if you link it with the Garmin Glo bluetooth GPS receiver. Linking this to my iPad makes for a LARGE display, and with downloadable maps no cell signal is necessary. $99 for the GPS antenna, $10 for CoPilot, and you're out the door with a great system!Re: Carlsbad Natl Park to North Rim Grand CanyonGooseneck State Park in Utah should be a stop. Check out Monument Valley, UT. If you come up through New Mexico, I would recommend stops at Mesa Verde and Chaco Canyon.Re: Flying to YellowstoneAllegiant flies into Idaho Falls. I book the DW on a flight from Vegas to Idaho Falls, leave early in the morning, and drive straight through to pick her up at the airport if I'm not towing. It saves her a 12 hour ride, and with no luggage I can get her in for about $50. Just an idea.Re: Trailer recommendationTake a look at the Lance line of travel trailers. the Lance 2295 has a configuration like what you describe.Re: Switching to LED lightingIf you want REALLY cheap bulbs, try Alibaba.com. Do a search for W5W Bulb Lamp 24SMD LED Warm White. I paid $1.49 per bulb, and got them direct from China in 3 weeks with free shipping. They work well!Re: upgrade to walk around bedTake a look at the Lance 1985. Small trailer, great floor plan.Re: Camping in ArizonaLake Havasu State Park in Lake Havasu City has huge sites near the lake. 30/50 amp service, water, dump station and marina. A favorite go-to for the wife and me.
