For most 1/2 tons thats a good starting point. Most 1/2 ton receivers can handle north of 1,000 lbs. Average brochure UVW is 5438 lbs. Again perfect start for 1/2 ton buyers. That’s what I thought as well. In fact, I chose to stay with these smaller ones to not worry about towing. The problem is on the forums people take that brochure weight and add 400 pounds to the tongue; instantly over killing a half ton and making it struggle and white knuckle to tow it. I had an old pilgrim 30’ 9,000 gvwr TT o towed a couple times. Truck towed it well with some sway on a windy day . I wasn’t fully happy with it and hoped to downgrade to make towing an issue I didn’t have to worryRe: Half ton towing MitchF150 wrote: The name of the trailer is not really a good indicator of it's weight.. Neither is it's brochure 'dry weights'... Look at the sticker for the rigs GVWR. Sure, you don't load anything in your rig, so you'll never get to that weight, but look at it anyway, because eventually, you'll get there... ha, ha... :) I have a #7000 GVWR TT that is called a "Mini-Lite".. It's loaded for bear and I carry full load of fresh water too! Tow it with an F150.. OMG.. :) Plus I load the bed with all kinds of stuff too.. Tows fine and made a few mods to help, but in the end, it's a great tow and has some 108,000 miles on it now.. In the end, get the rig that works best for you and if it works, "you chose wisely".. If not... Well, then "you chose poorly".. :) Good luck! Mitch The micro light 25fkbs has caught my eye. 7,800 pounds gvwr on it So I guess the estimate is 780 pound tongue + WDH = 880Re: Half ton towingMy door says 1565 max cargo 2 adults and a 1k tongue weight and your done. Looking at flagstaff micro 25fkbs. Acccordijg to every forum on the net, the listed weights are way off. So when you add hundreds of pounds to get the teal weight it’s always over or at best exactly at it.Half ton towingLooking at these numbers and forums for towing and it is very annoying. Most of these trailers say micro or light but have 900 to 1,000 lb tongue weights. Basically, you need a 2500 to tow anything but a pop-up camper.Re: Favorite things to do at skidaway state parkTYFavorite things to do at skidaway state parkWe will be staying at the above state park mid December. This will be our second trip to savannah, GA. WHat are your favorite things to do at/near the park. Also, what did you enjoy doing at or near Savannaha.Re: Suggestions for Georgia trip for DecemberWe have decided to go to skidaway park this time. We will save our Hiawassee and Blue Ridge trip for a better date. Thanks for the replies.Suggestions for Georgia trip for DecemberI previously posted about taking a trip to Hiawassee, GA. However, I became aware of the severe drought and fire conditions and don’t believe we will be able to go to this area next month. At this time I am looking for another place to venture to for the month of December. We are located in central Florida and would prefer a place within 9 hours travel time. We are looking for cooler or cold weather. I would like a spot with natural things to look at such as waterfalls and hill trails, but also have things to do nearby. It would also be nice for the wife if the location or nearby held some sort of Christmas light event. I have come across Stone Mountain, but not sure if I want to pay the prices and have no interest in Atlanta. I am also open to anything in South Carolina which would also meet the requirements. Looking for: Price less than $40.00 a night Access for a 27’ trailer (Pilgrim 237RKS) S, E, W hookups Colder weather with no burn bans Area with natural beauty (waterfalls, hills/mountains,) Near an interesting town or tourist area with enough to keep you busy for four nights.Re: Anyone stay in Hiawasse, GAAre there any better suggestions not more than an hour away. We're looking for slight mountain view and colder temperatures.Re: Anyone stay in Hiawasse, GAWe are interested in the fairground portion. Will all the craft shops and fair food be available all the time, or only certain times of the year.
