That's kind of what I'm thinking too. a number of half tons are built with very high gears ratio (numerically lower numbers) to maximize fuel economy, and that makes for a bad experience towing. Speaking for GM's 6 speed transmission, not true. My '11 GMC crew cab had the 3.42/6 speed combo. Best towing experience I've had with my trailer, and I've towed it with an 04 Dodge Ram, 3.92/5 speed 05 Suburban 3.42 4 speed, and 07 Suburban 3.73 5 speed. Only towed one time with my '14 Chevy with the 3.42/6 speed and again it pulled great. If the OP has the 5.3 with the 3.42/6 speed combo, towing a rig similar in specs to my 27' 5500lb KZ will be a very good match for his truck.1.8KViews0likes0CommentsRe: victim of dishonest Seller
You will have a great rig fixed properly when all is said and done. Our KZ has served us well and has been a quality unit. My decals have faded badly as well. One piece of advice- check your roof seams, especially where the nose cap meets the front of the roof- make sure everythings sealed up. Ive had to keep an eye on that area. My 1st ever RV salesman told he he was once at a truck stop and witnessed an RV go up in flames- propane was on, lady ran some hot water in the RV while her husband was filling up. Spark from the h2o tank firing up set the whole thing up in flames. That story stuck with me and I never travel with my propane on. Are you sure of the Tahoe's towing capacity? My previous GMC pickup with the same 5.3, 6 speed 3.42 rear end was good for 9500 lbs and towed my trailer extremely well. Does it have the factory tow package? If so you wont need the aux. cooler(s)374Views0likes0Comments
