All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Land Between the Lakes - Kentucky/TennesseeWe camp several times a year at LBL and have for years. The COE campground at Grand Rivers is our favorite. It is just south of Grand Rivers and is named Canal Campground. COE campgrounds are watr and electric only, but this is a great spot. Hillman Ferry is operated by a different organization. Reservations for Canal can be made through rec.gov while Hillman Ferry reservatin info is on lbl.org. I understand that Piney in lbl is a great CG, but I have never camped there. Hurricane Creek on the west side of lbl is a great little COE cg but is a bit far from everything. Hope this is of some help. BEARRe: Kentucky Bourbon Trail - best campgroundI would have to go with My Old Kentucky Home State Park for being central. Lots of bourbon in Louisville, but no good campgrounds. Horse Park would run a close second.Re: The "trace" road thru land between lakesLBL.org will give you info on the Trace as well as things to do along the way. A stop at Golden Pond near the southern entrance to the Land Between the Lakes will be a good place to check in and pick up info on LBL. 1860's homeplace, the Elk and Bison Prarie, and Nature center are but a few of the possible stops along the way. Piney CG is at the southern end of the Park, Hillman Ferry at the North. We used to camp at Hillman a lot, but in the last few years it has become increasingly difficult to book a nice site. We do like Canal COE CG just outside the northern boundary of the park and very close to Patty's Landing in Grand Rivers. Lake Barkley and Kentucky Lake are prime lakes and offer tons of recreational activities. We live about 2 hours east and are headed that way this weekend. Couple of pics from Canal CG, the Hill site 78 (I think) Re: Bear's 212QBWMessed this file up big time. This pic id from Rough River Lake. Axtel COE not Nolin as advertised. Sorry. Here is a better pic from the same campsite at Axtel Think I got it this time.Re: ~Post your campsite photos here~Here are a few of our favorites both here in Kentucky and in the Smokies. We camp to relax and recharge. If I'm sitting at home, there are always things that need attention and sooner or later the "guilt" will wear me into working. I'm semi-retired and work 35 hours/wk, the wife retires next year. At my age a good weekend of R&R goes a long way towards getting the next week completed. We will soon be married for 46 years and have camped as a family since our first anniversary. RV-ing can be an expensive habit, for us it has allowed us to do things on a small budget that would normally bend the budget into a pretzel. I know who last slept in the bed I sleep in and when the linens and bead covers were last cleaned. We can have breakfast with a view in our jammies, lunch in places that many only dream of, dinner under the stars and be together. Yes the in-laws think we're a bit touched, but they have not seen our beautiful state or country like we have. Most, rarely if ever, do anything together and wonder why there are so many conflicts within their little kingdoms. No regrets here. We may not have a lot materially, but everything else is really very pleasant and peaceful.Re: HEY we need a sticky for our TT pics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Trying http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/29265382.cfmRe: HEY we need a sticky for our TT pics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Bear's 212QBW at Wax COE CG on Nolin Lake, Kentucky Bear's 212QBWAt one of our favorite local stores on Nolin Lake
