I was just wondering if ANYONE else had stayed at this Walmart before. We might try the Cracker Barrel close by as suggestedWalmart Kingman ArizonaJust wondering if anyone has ever spent the night in the parking lot in Kingman Arizona. If it was an unknown cause I would be worried it could happen on another trip. They ran a diagnostic test on it and found nothing. We think it was a HOT Day, We had been traveling all day in the heat and this happened between Colorado Springs and Woodland Park Co., the end of July. Its been running fine ever since. We are going to have the radiator flushed out before our next trip. AND We HAVE decided to Keep it! :) It's also possible your fan clutch is going out. Yes we are going to have that checked out. Thank youRe: 2007 Chevy Silverado HD Duramax,Diesel Allison TransmissionWe Want to thank ALL of you for your input. We have been reading all of these comments, and have decided to KEEP our truck. We have peace about it now. SO THANK YOU ALL very much. We are taking it in on Thursday to have the oil changed and see what else might need taken care of. We really love this truck and it has been good to us and has given us lots of Great memories, THANKSRe: 2007 Chevy Silverado HD Duramax,Diesel Allison Transmission LIKE2BUILD wrote: Jakessweetthing wrote: Our truck overheated going through the mountains last summer and we have worried a little about it since. They all have the potential to break even the new ones. You know what your dealing with now. Why change for the sake of change? I think you are good for another 100K at least. thank you for the encouragement!Re: 2007 Chevy Silverado HD Duramax,Diesel Allison Transmission SDcampowneroperator wrote: If your truck is an 07 classic with the LBZ/Duramax like mine, keep it. Over the next 200k miles I expect to spend 5-10 k on repairs as injectors and other stuff wears out, but I do not expect the main driveline to wear out. If it did breakdown on the road, we do have our house right behind, so we can wait for repairs or trade then. There are thousands of these trucks out there with many more miles than that with that experience. The 07 classic has a higher resale value than trucks up to 3 years newer. Thank you for your reply, it is great to hear from someone with the same truck. Our truck overheated going through the mountains last summer and we have worried a little about it since. We keep it well maintained and service on a regular basis.2007 Chevy Silverado HD Duramax,Diesel Allison TransmissionWe have a 2007 Chevy Silverado HD Duramax Diesel with an Allison transmission, that now has 200,000 miles on it. 85% of those are over the road miles. We have had it serviced and taken excellent care of it. The interior is in great condition. So Here is our question, My husband wants to trade for a new truck. But the price we are looking at is almost out of our fixed income budget. We could do it, but do we want to? So the next question is the important one. How many more miles can we expect to get out of our truck if we keep it??? We live in Kansas and we are planning a trip to Arkansas, California, and Colorado this year. And maybe the same next year. The next five years we plan on traveling a lot, so do we keep it? Or trade and take on those huge payments? What would you do?Re: Opinions and Advise on rout to San Diego from Kansas NMDriver wrote: Jakessweetthing wrote: We are traveling the 10th of June going and returning will be around the 22nd with stops along the way. Grand Canyon, ect.. and we want to avoid Phoenix going and coming back home. This was great advice, thank you so much In June you will hit 100 plus temps in Southern NM and AZ I would stay on I-40 or at least go no further south than US 60 for as long as you can. On I-40 you will be in relatively cool weather until around Kingman, AZ and on US 60 until you drop down into the Salt River and head to Phoenix. We are already at 75 here in Las Cruces and by mid June we are at 100+. BUT like they say it is a Dry Heat ;) If you are driving I-10 or I-8 in June try to drive after midnight and before 11 AM. on Edit: Bring 2 or more spare tires, they do not need to be on rims, but the cost of tires in the middle of nowhere CA is 2 to 3 times what it is in civilization. The summer asphalt temps will blow out a ST rated tire even when they are almost new. I lost two Maxxis E rated that were only 6 months old crossing the Mojave desert in June. Heat not load causes blowouts. Thank you, I am definitely going to make some route changes to our plans. I really appreciate the advice.Re: Opinions and Advise on rout to San Diego from Kansas 2gypsies wrote: From Palm Springs taking 62 to AZ95 to I-40 is a very easy drive with a RV and yes, I-8 to Yuma to 95 north is an easy drive. There are some nice state parks from Parker, AZ to Havasu City, AZ. Thank you !
