I asked my DW to get some beads and only thing she could find was bath pearls but a google search came up with nothing to compare them. 2 of the private CG's we go to specify at check in not to use formaldehyde products and I might start dumping into my own septic field just to be sure I'm empty for longer trips at state parks, I have a couple trips this year that I will be showing up after dark and don't want to dump on arival. I never get a good dump as my toilet drops into the shallow end. And yes I alway fill to top prier to dumping. 1 ply and use sprayer to break things up, also have a tornado in tank. I know the drive home will pulverize whats left and I have no problem dumping 5 to 10 gal. into my septic tank.Re: Holding tank chemicalsThe difference between those with pyramid problems and those without is where your toilet dumps into tank, mine is on the shallow side, so solids sit untill tank is half full, those that dump into the deep end don't have problems. A 30gal. tank can be 6" deep on one side and 3" on the other. We added a spray flusher like one used for the kitchen sink to spray the paper before dropping into the tank. Helped to solve our pyramid problem. Dump waste first with minimal water, wipe, spray tp and most breaks up untill bowl is full then drop fast to break up solids bellow.Re: Camper LevelerI might have to order a pair of these as well, the only thing I can add is that I would want to wedge something simple between the leveler on one tire and the small wedge on the other to be sure it cannot slip out, with kids and dog my TT is always a rocking. As long as one of those little wedges is held tight it will not roll. I have the yellow blocks and have had them kick up and jam on soft ground and watched my BIL break several of the orange style on soft ground, we could not keep them from kicking up and cracking. I have also broke 2 6 foot treated 2x10's that I used to carry, we go dry camping sometimes and thats where I end up breaking wood.Re: Great Smoky Mountain National Park (No Power Rider7767 wrote: goingnorth wrote: If you have never dry camped before most stock chargers take 2 days or more to charge batteries, I would bring an automotive battery charger that has at least a 15 amp option to charge each battery. The factory charger might put out about 10 amps. Thanks for the battery charger ideal. I have a 20amp fast charger at home already. That should cut charge time in half, stock TT chargers are ment to be pugged in 24-7 while in use. Be sure to unhook stock charger while using fast charger or only plug in fast charger and not the TT. The first couple times I dry camped I installed blade type disconects to my batteries and would disconect from TT and set up 2 chargers, 1 for each battery and still plug in camper and the TT's charger would run the camper that way I only need 1 to 2 hours to charge up. All my dry camping has been in the fall with temps between 20 and 50F. Running my heater was my biggest battery hog. Never dry camped in a campground, allways been out in the woods as far off road as I could dragg TT. 7 days till first trip of the year, Hartwick Pines near Grayling Mi. can't wait. Sites have so many trees you can hardly see next site.Re: Great Smoky Mountain National Park (No PowerIf you have never dry camped before most stock chargers take 2 days or more to charge batteries, I would bring an automotive battery charger that has at least a 15 amp option to charge each battery. I disconected my factory charger and added a PD9160+wizard 60amp charger and it will charge 2 batteries from almost dead to full from 1 to 2 hours. 2 group 29's. In cold (40's)weather I charge once a day, usuall around dinner, do dishes, shower, run electric heater, since I have extra power to use. We do a couple dry camps a year. I am form Michigan and want to camp there real bad, wife and I got married there 11 years ago and have not been back. On the list of things to do, we actually had a bear walk between us on a bycicle ride and we were about 20 feet apart, talk about a rush. We might take a tent for a couple days and then hit a rent a house for a couple more, hopefully next year. I changed all my lights over to fluorescent tubes befor led's came out, wish I waited, to much into them to change again, they did drop my usage in half though.Re: Kitchen in slide... steer clear or no big deal??I have the kitchen in the slide and was worried but I just inspect the hoses when I first got it and once a year, 5 years now and no problems. I will only have a TT with the dinette on the awning side, I can see my site, kids playing, everything going on. Most TT can't see there own site while in the camper, and are looking at there neighbors when indoors. This also usually means that the exhaust from the fridge and water heater are not under the awning, so if you dry camp this is nice. The only downfall is I have not seen a super slide with the kitchen in the slide, only the narrow slides.Re: CAMCO EAZ-LIFTOn my 2 TT and 4 different trucks through the years I have had my hitch set up 11 deg back. This is the difference between the shank and the top of the ball. This could be a start, this helps push the front end down, my set ups have all been with the reece dual cam but it could be the same for you. ProtractorRe: CAMCO EAZ-LIFTOne thing to remember is every thing changes when fully loaded, With batteries, full propane, clothes in the front closet, and a bed full of wood, cooler and other camping stuff you could be much lower in the rear of the truck. I also have to drive about 10 miles to set up my hitch as I live on a dirt road. Its a pain and my FIL always laughs when I take the TT out to adjust the hitch. I just got a new truck and it takes a couple times setting it up to get it right, first unloaded to get it close then fully loaded for a trip I may fine tune it. Then I added supersprings overload leaf and have to start over again. The back of my truck sat a 1/2 lower than the front when unloaded with a cap and tools in the back.Re: Camping Lingo in different parts of the countryI call mine a trailer when its hitched to the truck and a cabin when its not..Re: How to install Strong Arm Jack Stabilizer? Help!!I had them on my 04 Jayco for 2 years (different brand but same thing) and moved them to my 09 Passport, I won't have another TT without them. They lock the TT in place, with kids and a dog they are awsome, I did add 2 scissor jacks just in front of my tires and I have zero movement. Only downside is the black tank does not get sloshed aroud to help prevent mounding, so on long trips when I have to use my waste tote I will unlock the stabilizers for a couple hrs and let things get shook up before dumping. My toilet dumps into the shallow end of holding tank so untill its half full no liquids under toilet. Ultra fab brand. I also have 30" jacks.
