I didn't really look much at the other sites. Recreation.gov provides a description of each site.Re: Best automatic portable antenna for DirecTV?OP here. According to this source, Sats2Go, DTV has announced they will discontinue SD programming in April 2019. It makes no sense for me to invest in a portable SD dome that will be obsolete in only about 7 months. I'll work it out with my portable Slimline and tripod for those rare occasions when my Trav'ler cannot find the birds. Thanks to all that responded.Best automatic portable antenna for DirecTV?I have a Winegard Trav’ler for DirecTV on the roof of the coach. I’m very happy with the Trav’ler, but there are occasions when I am parked and cannot receive a signal due to trees and such. I purchased a portable Slimline dish and tripod, but find it difficult to set up and locate satellites, even using a satellite finder app. It is also bulky and awkward to carry in the coach. So … I’m looking for a good automatic portable satellite antenna unit for DirecTV. I understand that it will not be an HD unit, and that’s fine as long as it will work with my HR54-700 receiver. 1. What is the best portable automatic antenna for Direct TV? 2. Is there a likelihood that this antenna will become obsolete as DirecTV phases otr SD programming?Re: Directv / Dish Network ? Bill.Satellite wrote: Dave H M wrote: What Bill says folks. Wow you been camping all this time without getting the locals off the DTV/satellite? Supposedly you can just get that accomplished on the web site. I am old fashioned and call them to have my service address changed to where I am located. :B I am not aware of being able to change your locals on line but I use the chat function with the specific wording that I am in an RV, changed locations, need ONLY the service address updated and the address I want to use. Give it all to them right up front so they don't have to go through the "how can we hel you" script. Bill, I do essentially as you do to, use the chat function to communicate a change of service location with DTV. But ... I have been reluctant to change my service address too often. I have heard in these forums that DTV sometimes takes exception if you change too frequently. How often do you change your service address and have you ever experienced this problem? Another question: can my DTV Trav'ler be modified to work with Dish? If so, how?Re: Changes to National Park fees Horsedoc wrote: Anyone ever been to GSMNP? no fee ! Ever wonder why? From the GSMNP website: Why No Entrance Fee? The reasons for free entry to the national park date back at least to the 1930s. The land that is today Great Smoky Mountains National Park was once privately owned. The states of Tennessee and North Carolina, as well as local communities, paid to construct Newfound Gap Road (US-441). When the state of Tennessee transferred ownership of Newfound Gap Road to the federal government, it stipulated that "no toll or license fee shall ever be imposed…" to travel the road. At that time, Newfound Gap Road was one of the major routes crossing the southern Appalachian Mountains. It's likely the state was concerned with maintaining free, easy interstate transportation for its citizens. North Carolina transferred its roads through abandonment, so no restrictions were imposed. Action by the Tennessee legislature would be required to lift this deed restriction if Great Smoky Mountains National Park ever wished to charge an entrance fee.Re: Base plate ?Can't speak to the Jeep question. I installed the Roadmaster base plate myself on my Honda Pilot. Roadmaster estimates 3 hours labor, so $400 is not totally out of line. It basically took me all day, as the whole nose assembly had to come off, and I basically just took a lot of time to ponder each step. Also, there were few screws that needed to be removed that Roadmaster didn't mention in their otherwise very complete instructions.Re: Toc to Dawson City?Is this lookout on the Alaskan or Canadian side of the border? Tripalot wrote: If you do NOT drive the Top of the World hIghway and go to Dawson, you will forever regret it. Those are 2 of the must do highlights of your trip to Yukon. Twice now we have overnighted (boondocked) at the lookout right near the border. There is a large parking lot and a monument and many people stay there (unless in recent years it has been posted no camping). It is so quiet and peaceful. We had caribou walk past our RV and completely ignore us. The border shuts down at night and from your vantage point you can observe the lineup of trucks and cars waiting to cross in the am. Go for it! Re: Flat Towing 2011-13 Honda PilotOP here. Anybody out there towing the Honda Pilot? Experiences? Thanks, MyronRe: Flat Towing 2011-13 Honda PilotOP here. I know what the manual says, and that is not the question. I don't expect redress from the Honda if things go south. I know one person who has successfully towed a 2013 2WD drive Pilot since it was new. Others have told know me they know folks towing their Pilots up to model year 2013. I really don't want a debate, just real-life first hand experiences. I am particularly interested in experience with the AWD. I will also talk to Remco and get their take. Thanks! MyronFlat Towing 2011-13 Honda PilotIs anybody flat towing a 2011-13 Honda Pilot? If so, please let me know your experiences and specifically whether it is 2WD or AWD.
