Just google it. here, for example is a link to a you tube video on the installation. https://youtu.be/GUQAj7dTsSoRe: Is there an Air Conditioner using Inverter CompressorThe best source of comparative data between a Roof Top and a Split System can be found on You Tube. "RV Rooftop vs Mini-Split AC | Shop Talk | DIY Truck Camper" video. It's a great in depth comparison of the two by an HVAC engineer that's presented in plain English with a spreadsheet comparing the data. This is the direct link to that video: https://youtu.be/2rk4rANcaVg Installation of a split would be a process but it is well documented by others so while it's not bolt on easy it doesn't require one to break trail. LG sells an inverter system window unit that's actually brilliant. If it wouldn't look so ghet..er..sketchy ..one of those would provide 14,000 btu cooling in an easy to install package for under $600! You can find them on Amazon for information sake. In another forum the Houghton roof air units were recommended as a better alternative to Dometic and the like. Looks like they are a bit less noisy.Re: Is there an Air Conditioner using Inverter CompressorIf it wouldn't look so...trashy...LG makes a 14,000 btu inverter window unit that offers reasonably quiet operation and low power draw. If they can do that why not a roof top? LG Inverter Window UnitRe: Is there an Air Conditioner using Inverter CompressorRight. A rear mount bracket will have to be welded in off the trailer hitch / frame. I don't see though how to mount a second unit inside the coach. Lines could run on the roof but where would it be mounted without giving up a lot of cabinet space? In the rear above the bed it's fairly easy and not a great loss of space. I also wonder if a residential unit can stand the rattling and shaking that would be daily life mounted to an rv.Re: Is there an Air Conditioner using Inverter Compressor TurnThePage wrote: I've been looking at the mini-splits too. But the OP (and me too) is asking about a roof mounted unit that has similar characteristics to the typical mini-split. It doesn't seem that difficult from a manufacturing stand point. Maybe just not enough market to justify the upfront costs. Too bad. I wonder if it's possible to kludge one together?Re: Is there an Air Conditioner using Inverter Compressor magicbus wrote: The guy who installed my house inverters explained that to operate properly an inverter requires a certain minimum length run between the inverter and the heat exchanger to operate properly. Something like 20’. He has done 3 installations for me so I tend to accept what he says. Dave Interesting. I have three in my house. None are that far apart. The line runs are - IIRC - 12 and 16' with the excess line coiled up behind the outside unit.Re: Is there an Air Conditioner using Inverter Compressor CA Traveler wrote: If you mean one that runs on 12V DC inverted to 120V AC that would be rather inefficient vs a DC motor or just a AC motor. A 120V 10A AC draw for a air conditioner would draw about 110A DC which would among other things require very large wires to the roof. No - one with an inverter compressor as used in a ductless split system. They are much more efficient. Rather than the compressor running on a start/stop basis - with the startups drawing the most current of the entire operation - they're a DC system that throttles the speed of the compressor to match the load. My residential units could run on the smallest Harbor Freight generator they offer. Is there an Air Conditioner using Inverter CompressorI love the split systems that I have in my home. Now that I have the roof on my 2000 Bounder 34T cleared for recovering I'm wondering if anybody makes an inverter system unit for RV's. Searched around the net but came up empty.Re: 2000 Fleetwood Bounder Are Dash Air Parts The Same? The rest of your Fleetwood Bounder F53 HVAC system is supplied by Denso, not Evans-Tempcon Richard I disagree:) The OP has a 21 year old Fleetwood Gas. While Denso did supply some Dash AC components to Fleetwood DIESEL models about 22 years ago, they did not supply GAS system components in 2000. Read what Denso has on their website for RV systems. 15 years puts us back to 2005, not to 2000. Also, there should be some tags on the evap cover and area of the OP's stating the maker of his system. He can also go to both Denso and Evans and look at the listing for DASH controls and see which matches his, which will be the maker of his Dash AC system. Doug HVAC Systems With over 15 years of providing quality HVAC systems to all the major manufacturers of recreational vehicles, only DENSO has the innovation, expertise and strict quality control to produce the best dash HVAC systems on the market. The DENSO RV HVAC system is a fully integrated system for RV heating, ventilation and air conditioning, engineered to tackle the specific requirements for today's varied motor homes. Disagree all you want but Denso did supply HVAC to the OP's coach. My 1995 Bounder gas has a Denso HVAC system. Denso was the premier supplier of HVAC to Fleetwood back then. It's easy enough to tell to tell if a Denso HVAC is installed. It's all electric with no vacuum controls. Richard Guys...I found it yesterday as I mentioned above. Just searched the F53 chassis on Rock Auto and there it was. Just over $10 at that!Re: Taking I-10 to Jacksonville FL Looking for a layover spot Retired JSO wrote: Hanna is at the Beach and north east of your destination. There is a Walmart right on I-10 at SR228, exit #336, Macclenny, Florida 8 miles west of Jacksonville City Limit. Walmart sounds perfect - I take they allow an overnight stop? I know some can't or don't.
