Just the county fees are more than the price of the carport. I went with a building from "metallic" out of Sacramento... the county fees were not cheap for that either. Its been a few years now but the guy I talk to was "John AZ" pretty good guy, had lots of options. I have been thinking of doing one for my Lance and have been throwing the idea of just putting it up, and will take it down again when I move.Re: New license plate for my TC.are you really trying to say something here, what are you married to a cop?Re: New license plate for my TC.Just getting back to this thread... The CHP officer was very non specific about any part of the question that I posed to her. Basically I got the feeling that she really didn't know the "Answer" and giving me the "its a reason to pull you over" sounded like a "go to " response. I have always believed if ANY LEO wanted to pull you over, there are probably a 100 reasons, and the whole license plate thing is just reason 101. I just make it a practice to cover my bases and not give any LEO an obvious reason to pull me over. I have been taught over my MANY years respect the badge and its authority. I don't go out of. my way to draw attention to my self in respect to LEO. I get that their job is not one I would like or even equipped to do, and my hat is off to the 99% but I have met one or two who take their authority to the next level.Re: New license plate for my TC.In CA, according to the one CHP officer I talked with about this subject, She says if you put it on the camper; "It is a reason to pull you over" if you put it on the pickup and I can not easily see it ," it is a reason to pull you over". My response was, well that is why I am talking to you now, so you don't have a reason to pull me over, she just shrugged her shoulders and said "its a reason to pull you over" she did qualify it with, if you are older its you and your wife, and there is no apparent other reason to stop you, she wouldn't pull us over. I did not have that warm fuzzy feeling with that conversation.Re: Timbrens, airbags!I have an 2006 F350 DRW I got rid of the air bags, I hated them, they did nothing for sway and seemed to make the truck mushy. Made the move to Timbrens, Really made a difference and I like them, no airing up no thinking about if they leak. When its empty rides on the stock springs.Re: 4 down towing vehiclesIF you decide on a f 150 be sure it is a "manual" activated transfer case, IF it is an electronic activated transfer case ( where you push a button vs shift a shifter to engage 4x4) be sure that the dealer is able to install the program/access to the computer of the vehicle to enable "N" on the transfer case. Went through that and was unable to get a dealer able to enable the computer to put the transfer case in neutral. Just something to investigate and to check before you pull the plug on a f 150Re: Need advice on spacer between camper and truck bed?Punomatic, How did the rubber bed liner work out on the foam, longer term? Did you use spray cans from some place like Home Depot, do you remember the exact name/type? I have just gone from foam panel with 2x6 on each side to a more solid foam core with out the 2x6 framing. I haven t tried the stronger foam core panel yet.easy to use DVRFirst off, we are NOT tech savvy. We have next to no, over the air TV reception where we live. We do have Direct TV We just bought a new TV, Visio, Smart TV as I believe it is called, We get what they call "Watch Free" Works good. We want to be able to record this programing, be able to back up and re-watch a portion of a show. Note; Our Direct TV has a built in DVR which is pretty easy to operate and we are very happy with it. It only records Direct TV shows. Please give me an idea of what I want to buy to enable me to record shows I stream over my new TV As I look on Amazon and other stores, it is very confusing trying to figure out what I need, there are so many choices, and I don't get even half of the initials used to describe the features. I would appreciate any helpRe: What is the best safe for a TC?I use a smaller box from harbor freight, its bolt down so its not going anywhere, but the better security is that its hidden behind a false panel. If they find it, it will also take a few extra minutes to get it open. Not that they can't get it open, just will take a some extra time. I don't much care about the tv or any of that stuff, I have the "safe" hidden and locked, for my protection.Re: Newbie Question About Tie DownsI used Happijac for a number of years and never had a problem, felt safe and secure with that tie down system. My son in law has used Brophy for many years and also has had no problems using them for his camper. I will say I have changed to the torklift system ONLY because I found some stuff on Craigslist and some items at a garage sale, the price was so good I could not turn it down. Do I feel any safer, more secure, not really, however I do feel its a better system and for the price I paid I could not turn it down. If you check craigslist or hit some garage sales maybe this summer you could always update later. You have a pretty common truck and finding the used tie downs should be pretty easy.
