The 3500 is much better than the 2500 because it works with leaf springs. True, currently there are no after market suspension products that you can use with the factory air ride, but I have found no need to upgrade the suspension and I am hauling a AF 1150 and often tow a boat. The Only downside to the air is that you cannot add air to just one bag to offset the additional weight of the slide, I have a very slight list to the side of the slide with TC on truck. I don't think cold weather affects the air bags because the bags work on a closed system and are filled with nitrogen.Re: can't get the gvwr math to workBetter up that passenger weight, 150lbs, really??? Not in America!Re: How to hang a clothes bar across the back seat? They stopped putting hooks on the side due to side airbag deployment.Re: onan repair bill question jimh425 wrote: Kayteg1 wrote: I had 4 kW Generac that would burn 1 gallon/hr. However, this thread is about Onans 2500s. Most people and the specs say it's .3 -.4 per hour. Either way, it depends on how you use your generator. I'd have no regular reason to be where I'd need to run my AC 24 hours a day and not have hookups. I probably wouldn't be in a TC if that was the case since I don't enjoy long hours in my TC. The convenience of a builtin for the few minute a time usage that is normal for me far exceeds the propane usage. AgreeRe: onan repair bill questionTimely post, I have the generator halfway out of my AF 1150 right now. I am installing a new starter and solenoid today!Re: Camper pigtail was cut off !!!If you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself, a hitch shop will fix it in a few minutes for a minimal cost.Re: Need a 3500 series monster truck for a camplite 6.8? The truck seemed to handle the weight “OK” with a Big Wig sway bar and air bags. We were over gw, under axle and tire gw as per the local CAT scale. We upgraded to a new Chevolet 3500 LWB dually and the difference in driving is astounding! The long bed dually is not as bad to drive as I thought it would be, it is longer and wider. Anyway, my point is the dually long box is way better driving truck than my 2500 SWB with my 3,400 wet weight camper. Expensive lesson learned! I went the same route with a 2500 RAM to a 3500 DRW, IMHO 3/4 ton trucks are a waste of money, just get a 3500 SRW or DRW.Re: Replacement Battery Help/Choices/OpinionsI have the Flowrite watering system and it really adds no height to the batteries. It works great, I hook it up to distilled water about once every two months and top the batteries off. I was looking at AGM batteries, but after a lot of research, for my application, I believe that flooded batteries will work better in the long run than AGM. Good luckRe: Anyone ever actually have their weight checked/ticketed?I doubt you ever would have a problem with law enforcement officers unless you were so grossly overweight that it was obvious by just looking at the vehicle that it was unsafe. But if you are in an accident, AND being overweight was a factor in the causation of the accident you could be cited and you would definitely be exposed to more civil liability.
