My 2011 Laredo was built by request with an E/W cabover. My Ram 2500 is a standard cab/long bed 4x2 and the considerations were to be as lightweight as possible, minimum cab overhang, and the fact that most of my adventures were solo.647Views0likes0CommentsRe: Camper window for aft of cab leaks
You might consider a window boot to (mostly) eliminate the issue. Most manufacturers offer one as an accessory and they aren't necessarily make/model specific. The removable pass-through window on my Northstar Laredo did well with water before I "got the boot" but blew out a couple of times if the latch wasn't very carefully closed. The pass-through is mostly kept open since the boot and heat/AC will pass back to the camper while on the road. Another approach to frost buildup is to "head it off at the pass." Warm air can enter the cabinet through the drain tube and contribute substantially to the problem. The simple solution is to extend the drain tube 8-10" with some appropriate tubing and a barbed connector and form it into a loop creating the equivalent of a p-trap. The tube will drain normally and the bit of water trapped in the loop will block any warm air from entering the cabinet. On a slightly different track, I've had some grief (and ripoff tickets) from Bay Area parking lots that insist that my truck/TC, my daily driver, is an RV - never mind that the DMV registration clearly says pickup truck. The only signage in the lots prohibits oversized vehicles, which is not the case. Apparently they can make their own rules and good luck with fighting their opinion.322Views0likes0Comments
