They fit secure and added the viewing angle I needed for our trailer. I'm sure there is a comparable design for the Ford line. I'm not using them any more simply because I upgraded my Tow Vehicle, but I'd buy them again if I needed to, especially at around $45.Re: Minor sway issueRob, I just purchased a ProPride for our 2016 Jayco 28BHBE, being towed by our 2006 GMC Sierra 1500HD. I towed our trailer home about 200 miles yesterday for the first time, and I experienced the same thing you mentioned; a little "sway" at times from the trailer within the 65-70mph range. I even felt it at times when a car would pass me. It never was close to what I had been experiencing with our prior, inexpensive, hitch setup, but definitely a surprise given the claims of the hitch and other users. It was never uncomfortable to me, but was surprising none the less. And while I definitely agree with a few of the posters here in this thread, that there is no substituted for correct loading and WD, it still surprised me because I have weighed everything and found things to be right where they needed to be. Sean had told me before I left for our trip to bring the WD jacks up a bit further if we felt any porpoising, which we did for the first 10-15 miles. But now I'm wondering if I just cranked them up a bit too far. We started around 3 inches up, but then went to 4, so it wasn't a major increase. But even that one inch seemed to make a difference. Anyway, just wanted to let you know I experienced the same thing you did. We aren't going camping again till the end of Sept, but I'll make a few adjustments and post back my experience. I'd be interested any adjustments you make and your experiences as well.Re: Solaire TT Blew Over in Storm Need-A-Vacation wrote: Congrats on the new Jayco!!! We have had ours for about 3 weeks now and love it!!! We considered the 28 BHBE also, but went for the bigger bunk room. Was a tough decision though! Lol How does the 1500HD like the trailer??? The truck pulls it ok, but it's a bit more trailer than I think the truck is best suited for. We are on our first trip to the Straits and some of the hills on 75 were a bit of a struggle. Honestly, I think we're going to be looking to upgrade the truck soon as we want to go out west and south at some point soon and I don't think the 1500HD will do mountains very well at all. And it just wasn't a comfortable tow experience on the whole. So a true 3/4 ton is probably in our near future. We looked at 32BHDS as well, but I knew our truck wouldn't ever pull that trailer. Very nice floorplan though, especially with the outdoor kitchen and double entry to the master bedroom, something my wife liked much better. But we're happy with the 28BHBE, especially after all we dealt with in our Solaire going over.Re: Solaire TT Blew Over in Storm spoon059 wrote: Glad you got things taken care of and you are happy with your new rig. We looked at the 28BHBE, but I wanted a full queen and the bride wanted a dedicated bunk room. We ended up with the 29QBS. We love ours, hope you enjoy yours too!!! We looked at a 29QBS, which was a closer match to the Palomino we had, but we liked the larger bathroom of the 28BHBE, and I have a 15 old son who is already 6' and we were afraid he'd outgrow one of the bunks in the 29QBS. So the BHBE made sense for us. I do wish the queen bed was a tad longer, but I'm learning to deal with it. Jayco makes a great trailer for sure!Re: Solaire TT Blew Over in StormJust to button up this thread and story, we are out on our first trip with a new, 2016 Jayco 28BHBE, and are so thankful for the way things played out. We ended up with a nicer trailer honestly and while we lost a lot of the season, we'll have this new TT for many years to enjoy as a family. And I had a concrete slab poured next to our home for parking the new unit, complete with tie downs. :-) I'm planning to secure the axles on the up wind side, to ensure this doesn't happen again! Thanks everyone for the encouragement and comments. Be safe and happy camping!Re: Adding Additional Stabilizer JacksOur family just ordered a Jayco 28BHBE. How do you like yours? Do the jacks make much difference in the stability of the trailer?Re: Solaire TT Blew Over in Storm 2oldman wrote: miyzfrider wrote: bankmule66 wrote: Where did this happen Just north of Jackson in Pleasant Lake. I'll bite.. what state? Sorry, Michigan. :-)Re: Solaire TT Blew Over in StormActually I was going to post because I got the settlement info today. I am happy to share that our insurance company is going to pay me the max our policy allows (which is close to the NADA value), minus our deductible. That will allow me to pay the unit off. So I am ending up with a situation that is playing out as good as it possibly could, which I am so thankful for. In addition, after three different trips to two different dealers, walking through lots of travel trailers and 5th wheels, we put a deposit on a new Jayco Jay Flight today. Unfortunately, the floor plan we wanted wasn't in stock with the options we desire, so we had to order one. It will take some time (6-8 weeks) to get, but we'll have it before our big "before school starts" vacation as well as some fall camping trips we have scheduled. In the end we are going to end up with a nicer unit honestly and my whole family is very excited. Just being 8' wide instead of 7' wide is going to be nicer and give me more peace of mind when it sits in our driveway during a storm. I'm still going to stake it down though to ensure this doesn't happen again. I want to give a shout out to Farm Bureau Insurance, which is our carrier and treated us very good throughout this process. So now I am waiting for the check from FB to go pay off the lien and get the title cleared, so a salvage company can purchase the unit from the insurance company and take it from the dealer who has it right now. Quite an ordeal, but I'm so thankful for how it is all turning out! Feeling blessed after the storm! :)Re: Solaire TT Blew Over in Storm chr$ wrote: I'm wondering if skirting would prevent this. Many times when something blows over, it is from air getting under it. I wondered about that too, however I think the pure wind surface area of the side compared to the center of gravity and weight could still cause it, even with skirting. Like I said, I'm going to just anchor our new unit when we get one to make sure if it starts to lift, it is held down, not just by its own weight.Re: Time for a new one opinions on our choiceAs we are replacing our Palomino Solaire that was damaged and totaled in a recent storm (see other thread here on the forum), we've looked at Jayco units online as well, specifically the 29QBS and the 32BHDS. From all I can see on several websites, and from what I remember walking through a few, Jayco builds their units solid with some features that make them stand apart. We definitely are planning to jump to the Jayco brand this time and are hopeful we'll have a great unit for years to come! Starting our shopping this next week. Good luck with your purchase!
