I just got new BFG’s All terrain T/A KO that you mention it the OP. I went with a 1” taller tire. I loved the tires until it was time to pull over the mountain. My truck is very similar to yours but a 08 2500 and this last year I was not able to pull over Mt. Hood at speed. I kept running the what had changed scenarios through my head and the only thing I could think of is that I got the extra inch to fill out the wheel well decent. Maybe I should start a new thread on if tire height could have hurt me so badly as to cost me from 55 MPH to 40 MPH over the hill?661Views0likes0CommentsRe: weight distribution and water
Good post, I had a 16 foot boat and trailer in my TH with the fresh water tank with 50 gallons, towed pretty good. I came home with all the same except the water (empty) and******it was not fun. Figure on putting in another ½ tank of water. All the talk about weights and me having some problems towing the first trip I got a WD hitch and took it to the scales empty today. I think I am a notch high on the hitch and have dropped it to the bottom. Here are my numbers: Salem T25 toy hauler behind a full size Ram 2500 Quad cab 6.5 bed. Trailer ratings GVWR 10588 GAWR (each axle) 5080 Truck rating Total GVWR 8800 Rear GVWR 6000 Truck weights-empty (measured) front 3600 rear 3100 total 6500 Truck and trailer (trailer dry measured). truck front-loaded 3200 back truck loaded 4550 RV Duals 6100 truck with trailer weights 7750 truck without trailer weights 6500 tongue weight 1250 What I noticed was that my steering axle actually got lighter (so not enough tension on the WD correct?) If I have a 1000 lb receiver I am also overloaded with a dry trailer correct? Will one more chain link correct this? Still does not pull worth a crap. Thanks, I took some quick grip clamps in reverse, put a couple of 2x4’s to distribute the weight on the plastic tank and put pressure to it until I could get at the wiring harness. I taped up the individual wires and put it back together. Not the best situation I was concerned I was going to break the tank. The refrigerator now works and I put it on a spare fuse since it was available. I checked the operation of the refer by disconnecting the wires and putting my battery charger directly to it. I am thinking that that may be a nice back up power source if I have 120 available.160Views0likes0CommentsGrey water tank shifted?
Trouble shooting a wiring issue with my refrigerator blowing fuses and my heater not working it appears that the grey water tank has shifted and pinched the wire bundle between the frame and the tank. The tank appears to be held in by a cross member that was secured to the frame. I have an empty tank so blocked it up, pulled the cross support and the tank does not seem to want to come down. How is that tank held in? Salem 2007 Forest River T25 Toy Hauler More info: 15 amp fuse to refer blows but 5 amp at refer does not. Pulled hot wire on refer and furnace (same fuse). Still had 12 volts on the heater. Pulled all fuses still had 12 volts on the heater. Following the wiring back found the bundle pinched on the frame. Looked at the opposite side of the tank and the bottom of the fabric was obviously torn.1.1KViews0likes4Comments
