The Shasta is a retro but I think my Brother changed out the A/C unit for a bigger one because the one it came with wouldn't cool the camper. We are in flat land in Texas. Altitude isn't an issue here.Honda 3000Will a Honda 3000 power two camper A/C units? My truck camper and my Brother's 16' trailer camper. No picture of my Brother's camper. It is a Shasta.Re: Happi Jacks covered wagon wrote: I've got the older type. New in 2003 with my camper always sitting outside, the HappiJacks still operate without a problem. I keep them covered and shoot 3in One oil to the electric motor bearings where the corrosion occurs. I found this corrosion in the second year and made covers for them and learned how to oil them in 2005. This may be the direction you should go even with the newer style as the motor housings, end plate and shaft bearings are unlike metals to some degree, so need lubrication each year. How to access and remove the covers from the newer style electric motors I would have to see them to tell. Where exactly do you put the 3 in 1 oil? Do you remove the cover? ZuluRe: Covering a truck camper AFTER a snow? jaycocreek wrote: Why keep the snow off? The question we’re going to answer today, is “Is it safe to leave the snow piled up on the roof of my RV?”. When we asked this question last winter, our resident expert said, “Absolutely not”. Leaving snow on the roof of your RV could cause severe roof damage. Any amount of snow beyond a couple of inches is reason for concern. Snow weighs approximately 12 lbs per square inch. With fluctuations in temperature, you may even have ice build up beneath the snow. The melting (which causes water to run into cracks, etc.) and then re-freezing (causing expansion) can wreak havoc on your RV. You could end up with leaks through your vents and seals and if it were to sit all winter, the spring time could bring you a very unpleasant surprise. The safest bet is to keep it covered, but we understand that isn’t always an option for everyone. If your RV must be exposed to the elements, it is advisable to keep the snow off as best you can by using a soft snow rake with an extendable handle Snow weighs approximately 12 lbs per square inch? That can't possibly be right. I guess it might depend on how many cubic inches are stacked up on top of that square inch. I sent pictures to them and they promptly sent me a new cover for free. I would buy another one also. Zulu Glad to hear that. Not the part about it getting ripped up but that they took care of you. That's HUGE these days. There is a tag with a number on it. Mine was located in the middle of the front inside. To claim a warranty, you need that number. In my case, it had faded too much to read anymore. Luckily, my Wife had taken a picture of the tag when we got it and put it in her camper file. She is clearly more organized than I am. Just 1/4" worked for me. No condensation. Thanks to the good discussions here, I basically have everything figured out for my purchase of a hard side slide-in within the next month. I actually traded my 2016 Ram 2500 in June for a low mileage Ram 3500 DRW Mega Cab in prep for a TC. I'll either place a custom order in December for Spring delivery unless something else pops up. Best wishes. Just wanted to say "hello". M.L. logem, Cypress, Texas?? I'm also in Cypress. Exactly where are you? Zulu Re: Hauling a Honda 3000I don't have a generator compartment. Nor a rear bumper. But I could add another cargo carrier to the rear hitch. I've done that before but it really makes getting in and out of the rear door an issue. I guess the concern has to be someone running into you from the rear or me running into someone else in front. Given those two choices, I think I would rather put my trust into my own driving rather than trusting the driving of someone else behind me. I can't be one of the few people that ever thought about this. ZuluRe: Hauling a Honda 3000Kayteg, How do you haul your gasoline? Putting it on the front cargo carrier appears to be the only option. I cringe a bit at that thought. Any body else? How do you haul a 5 gallon gas can if you aren't pulling a trailer? Zulu
