Good luck, have a good time! Patrick Semper ParatusRe: Camping near Williamsberg VA, AprilWe are staying at the Naval Weapons Station, Yorktown, VA in March. Check it out if you qualify for military lodging/camping. It is just down the road from Williamsburg. Good luckRe: Recomendations for a new gasserWe bought a Winnebago Vista 29VE last year in your price range. It has been a good rig so far and we love the floor plan. The Ford V10 has plenty of power and the new 6 speed transmission works great. At 31’, it moves like a sports car. Almost. Happy hunting Patrick Semper ParatusRe: Texas Gulf CoastWhen you get to south La., find your way to New Iberia and check out the Tobacco plant. From there make those left turns as mentioned and go to Cameron, La where you will take a short ferry across the river, keeping west bound on the coast hwy 82 you will cross into TX at Port Arthur. From Port Arthur you can work you way over to Winnie, TX and head over to High Island, TX and run the coast over to the Galveston Ferry. A little side trip would be to head south from Port Arthur to Sabine Pass, turn west on the coast hwy to Sea Rim State park. Winter is a good time to visit this area as the mosquitoes can be ferocious with a south wind pushing them out of the marsh towards the beach when it’s warm. Unfortunately the road further west has been shut down for many years so you must return to Port Arthur to get to Galveston. Have a good trip. Patrick Semper ParatusRe: Where are you camping this summerApril- Lake Greenwood State Park, SC June- Virginia As many semi-local SC, GA, NC spots I can the rest of the year!Re: Ferry across to CAMERON, LAJust made this ferry crossing west bound in Dec 2016. No problems with my 30' MH. I can see it might be a challenge with such a large MH and toad. A smaller ferry was in service. Deckhand had me wait to go on last to park so that I was first off. We went on to have a beach side lunch at Holly Beach which is being rebuilt from total destrction from a couple of Hurricanes. This is a good time of year to travel south Louisiana before mosquitoes are out! Enjoy!Re: South Carolina to UP of Michigan trip this Sept/OctLots of good info from everyone! Thanks, keep them coming. So much to see, not enough time!Re: Baton Rouge LAIf your EB, consider the times noted or get off a couple of exits befor the I-10 Mississippi River bridge and head north to take the "upper" Miss river bridge (hwy 90) and work your way back to I-10/I-12. Still will have traffic but maybe a little less. I use my Google map traffic setting on my phone to see where the worst of the traffic is located. Good luck.South Carolina to UP of Michigan trip this Sept/OctWe are planning a three week trip from South Carolina to the UP of Michigan at the end of September into October. We plan on going into Canada at Sault Ste. Marie for a couple days then back south over to Green Bay and up to Washington Island before heading back south. Research shows plenty of camp grounds. We hope to catch the color foliage just right and hope to find space at the many camp grounds as we not going to make any reservations in advance. I welcome any advice on camp grounds, attractions and the crossing into Canada. My wife and I will be traveling in our 30" MH. Thanks! PatrickRe: I-49 S of Lafayette to Belle Chase, LA?Yet another dining recommendation...Prejeans Cajun restaurant located just north of I-10 on I-49. The management is RV friendly, good food and live Cajun music every night. While in the area, try some boudin (Cajun sausage). If you like back roads, just south of Broussard, La you can take Hwy 82 (old hwy 90) south that parallels highway 90. This road will be a slow ride through all the old bayou towns down to Morgan City, La. This route will give you a good feel of south Louisiana. Once you get to Belle Chase you should head south to Venice, go fishing and eat some fresh Tuna! Have a trip! (Although I live in South Carolina, I'm from Lafayette and still work out of south Louisiana as a Tow Boat Captain.)
