Since its a fast trip and the RV is just a mode of transportation in this case. The High Country Silverado wins here. Plus nice spare room for both of us waiting. Cant pass that up. Nasty few days ahead with crazy rain and travel. That never makes it fun. Note: I am thinking about downsizing to a Class B+ sprinter type at 25 feet and more of a van on the go in all kinds of travel scenarios. Of course that is a whole other subject. I enjoyed the comments.Re: Should I take the RV or not?I did consider weather conditions and the only thing I will run into is some rain. Can be less fun driving in November rain. No snow yet. Also I wrote the pros and cons on this subject like mentioned in a reply. The cons won and the answer was clearer. I have to say if staying longer and more time the RV would be the way to go but in this case its a 6 day turn around with 2 of them days 10 to 12 hour drive time. Great responses and it does make you think.Re: Should I take the RV or not?Hookups at house, family is great. Really, no reason to be in RV while there. Just more for transportation.Should I take the RV or not?We are heading south 500 miles from the Northeast area for 6 days to help family. 500 miles one way. Will stay at family house in spare room. I love driving the 32 foot Class C RV but is it worth it overall. We will not really use it but maybe a one quick night going down or even back up. Its nice to have your own bathroom and pack food and things with you. I just feel I am rushing the trip and putting extra miles on it and burning more gas. Any suggestions, advice, thoughts.Re: Mercedes Sprinter vs Ford E450 seeking opinionscbigham: How did the 23U drive, Its small, We drove the Winnebago minnie 25B at 26 feet and the back end of it bumped around and was very choppy for guest in the rear or center sofa/dinette. Just wandering if the 23u had better ride.Re: Mercedes Sprinter vs Ford E450 seeking opinionsLet me jump in here. I too am debating over the View 24J vs a small Class C about 28 feet long, Jayco type to be exact. I just drove the 2018 View 24J, full body paint and loaded. I mean loaded. MSRP price was 154K, They gave me price of 119k. No trade . I am wandering if I can go lower. The Other class C is around 75K out the door and rides very nice. Of course a nice 450 ford well built J ride Jayco. I like them both but those MB's are just so high priced. I really didn't feel to much difference in ride and getting around with either. About the same. Just can't decide. Payments are higher though and from what I read is it really worth it to have the MB.Re: Buying Local or Long distance gafidler wrote: It depends if you go some place or just stay around home, If you stay around home buy local if you travel it doesn't matter where you buy because it will only break when you are traveling. I think you nailed it: I will mostly stay local for the majority of my trips. Local meaning range out to around 300 miles. Maybe a trip or two from Pa to Colorado and Florida from time to time. I think you gave me my answer. There are a few dealers 1 hour west of me and 1.5 hours east of me. Both good. Note, Plus they always break on the road. Never home.Buying Local or Long distanceI have had this thought many times on which is the best to buy from, your local RV dealer or somewhat long distance dealer. Willing to travel 500 miles or a days drive. Well I don't want too. Sometimes the local guys do not have what you like and you may not even like them. Plus if you buy from out of town and get a good deal and try to service in town of course you are the guy who wasn't loyal to your local dealer and don't get treated right. Hmmm. The dilemma. It just seems every floor plan we like is in stock somewhere else. Any suggestions ,thoughts.Re: Jayco Grayhawk 29mv vs Forest River Sunseeker 3010dsWow! so glad you have one, I would go with the tankless on demand too if choice. Those 6 gallon water tanks can't handle everyone except in Campground when in full hookup mode. We just arrived in Fort Collins Colorado to visit family, We just beat the Northeast storm. 70's all week here. We are about 10 miles from Camping World in Longmont Co. They have a 29 W and 31 FS I will compare side by side and see how it goes. Just a side note, I have been talking to Nexus RV dealership where you can build your own. Anyone have knowledge about that direct RV buying company. They still seem to be a bit higher even when I build it next to the Jayco Greyhawk. Hmmm. Investigating now.Re: Jayco Grayhawk 29mv vs Forest River Sunseeker 3010dsYep. still sold on the Jayco, Love the 29W open floor plan, Great sitting area and ushape lounge, 4 door frig with great counter space. Great under carriage storage. The 2018's are coming out now with new colors and I hear and small changes with price increase with frig. Looking to find one on lot somewhere and make a deal. Best thing I like about that jayco is the front power and plush seats, spend a lot of time there. Woodwork looks so nice compared to others. Going to drive the 29W and 31FS with bunks one more time and settle on one. I know the grand kids like bunks but I like the more open floor plan. Great for AC flow to rear of unit too. When its closed up It still feels likes its open. Love that when you just need to pull off side of road and enjoy the unit for a bit and take that break. All great comments. Hope to keep them going. I am sure we all will have questions.
