Great hitch, easy to remove when needed.Re: Short bed or not?If you have not bought the truck yet, I would recommend a long bed, 1ton single wheel. More capacity for load, the long bed means no slider and no chance of hitting truck window and damaging both truck and trailer. Plus, if you decide on a larger rig in the future, you are covered. A friend bought a short bed 3/4 ton, because "that's what they had on the lot". Not only is he overloaded for his trailer, but their 1st trip out, broke out his rear window on his brand new truck, but damaged the front cap on the brand new trailer. The long bed is no problem driving around town, just sticks out of the parking spot a little more. For towing, a long bed is just the right choice, IMO.Re: GeneratorIs it one of the dual fuel models running on propane? If so, try gas. You could also install a hard start capacitor on the AC unit.Re: hot weather coolingA dehumidifier will help a LOT. The first function of an AC is to remove humidity. If you help it do that with the dehumidifier, it will greatly improve the function of the AC.Re: Classes to improve driving for Class AEscapees club can hook you up with an RV driving school/boot camp.Re: Fifth wheel hitch questionsWhy don't you just pull the pins on the B&W and raise the front jacks on the trailer, leaving the hitch attached? That's what I do. Easy peasy. Then just back under, lower the hitch, and hook it back to the truck.Re: To a 5er or not to a 5erRule of thumb on pin weight is 20-25% of the Gross weight of the trailer. The dealer lists pin weight of the unloaded trailer. You will be at around 3200# of pin weight, plus the weight of the hitch. I PREFER a dually, but I think you will be okay with that 350/3500, especially if it is a diesel.Re: Colder weather campingI just fill my on board water tank and use it instead of messing with a heated hose for water. I do have heated tanks, but make sure you don't turn them on with empty tanks. It can melt the tanks if they are empty. I would not worry about the tanks if 20 degrees or above.Re: Louvered tailgatesMy new one had the option of a rear camera mount, which I got. I have all the function of the OEM tailgate.Re: Tool Box on Tow Truck ???Highway Products make several that are flush with the bed rails. I have a long bed, and have their Companion model that goes just behind the tailgate.
