All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Back up camera I bought a cheap $15 camera from Amazon. It worked, but it was so wide-angle, I couldn't really use it for what I wanted - backing my truck hitch to my travel trailer. Re: Full-time and don't/didn't like it?My wife and I talk about going Full Time in a few years, but in all honesty, we will most likely be snowbirds. We love our house and enjoy Northwest Montana, but to be able to leave the snow to travel around exploring other parts of the country for several months out of the year would be heaven. I don't think a FT lifestyle would suit us. The longest experience in our TT was 6 weeks and we looked forward to a home without wheels.Re: Old School Pontiac and TTBeautiful.Re: Anyone ever drive off with a slide out left out? Back in the day, my dad left the steps out on our Midas Class C and on the way home, the driver of a Toyota Celica had parked and was opening his door as we drove by. The look on his face was priceless as our steps ripped his door open and fold it on to his front fender. (Yes, it was a very unfortunate accident.) We circled the block and waited for a cop to investigate the accident. Since the guy parked illegally in a red zone too close to a corner, his insurance had to pay for HIS car and the damage to our motorhome!Re: How to utilize 60 antivirus vendors at once T18skyguy wrote: This is a bit complicated, but... OR, buy a Mac. I'm going on 10 years with the same iMac with no anti-virus software. No viruses, and no slow performance. I was a PC guy for 25 years, and don't miss the anti-virus software.Re: Air conditioner winter coverI went 2 years with no cover at all with snow covering my trailer for a good 5 months. The past couple winters I've used an ADCO cover over the whole trailer. No issues either way with the air conditioner.Re: Short Term Winterizing?Similar situation for me. I have parked by trailer and I may go camping again in a few weeks, but the temps are going to get down to 30 or a little below. I drained my water tank, drained my hot water tank, and opened all my faucets to pump out any residual water. I figured there will be room for expansion should the water freeze, which may be only for an hour or two in the coldest part of the night.Re: Boondocking safety-Are you armed?I always have a handgun in the cab of my pickup and usually more in the trailer. In Montana, I am more apt to use a gun to put a deer out of it's misery after a motor vehicle accident. I wouldn't hesitate to bring my weapons to other states (and have), but they stay hidden, but accessible if needed. The only place I will travel and leave them at home is crossing the border into Canada or Mexico. I have a CWP and exercise my right to carry. I carry nearly everywhere I go for the protection of my family and everyone around me - including at my church. But I take it seriously and don't underestimate the responsibility.Re: Just bought our first trailer!! Molson wrote: Noted. I was thinking of adding the exhaust whistle and leaf blower turbo upgrade. Coming from the custom car & truck world, import car builders swear every sticker adds 5 horsepower. The Windstar has lots of space for product logos. Welcome to the camping family.Re: Glacier NPI live in Kalispell 30 minutes outside Glacier Park and the smoke from fires is very light here and in the park. Even the most susceptible to smoke-related health problems aren't suffering now. Mid-September should be much better as cooler temperatures and higher humidity rolls in. For an update on the Sprague Creek Fire inside the park, visit the Montana Inciweb Fire Website. It's updated daily with fire conditions for all fires in Montana. We will probably see you in the park, as we will be camping there at the same time. Incidentally, I'm a 911 Dispatcher and took many of the 911 calls the night the Sprague Creek fire started, which was during a major lighting storm.
