Unfortunately it was NOT done correctly and I now have to sue the guy. It doesn't look like it leaks so I should be ok for the time being. I just know it was not properly done, plus he didn't remove the plywood from the middle or the frame (one frame board is broke in 2 places) and one of the new frame boards is actually not long enough and has fallen off the side wall a bit. Needless to say I was not a happy camper. But his screw up did introduce me to a super nice guy! Lee came out the following weekend and fixed a couple of things he didn't like about the roof that the guy I was paying to do the work wanted done. He also brought a friend and they completely gutted the camper for me. Lee also helped me get all the needed supplies to do the walls and finish the beds. Lee has been a complete god send and at least I can say I made a new friend out of the craziness. The only crappy part is it is costing me more and more to do what I need to do. I've got $1,150 in labor for the guys (Lee and 2 others that the original roofer was supposed to pay for helping do the roof (I ended up paying everyone directly as the original guy had planned to scam them all and not pay them) plus the small down payment for labor I had given the original guy). And I'm not even going to go into the cost of supplies haha! I'm pretty sure its got to be close to 2 grand as well. SMH... Hopefully I can get the things done that I need done in the next 2 weeks as thats ALL i have left to finish the beds if I want to use it at the fair which is what I bought it for. Thankfully things are moving along nicely! Thanks for all the support and ideas and help! JennRe: Complete remodel of my Class C 1983 HoneyI had some help lol. I officially have the cab over bed DONE!!! and the big window. I pulled it out, cleaned off the silicone and old butyl tape, used Alcohol to clean due to not having paint thinner. I then taped off the window and repainted both the outside and inside to protect it from rusting in the event that moisture does get in. I'm fairly certain that I've got it sealed tight, but I will be putting some caulk around the outside to be safe. I'm not really caring about appearances at this time. Just making sure its leak proof. Monday night I hooked up my very first electrical outlet (my dads an electrician and informed me I did it correctly!)and ran the wiring to the other side. I even drilled some holes in the 2x2s to run the wire through so my walls would be flat. I've got 2 outlets planned for the cab over as I'm going to put a corner shelf on the one side to hold a 9in fan for my kiddo. Yesterday (Tuesday) I spent the entire evening working on getting the wall pieces figured out for the curve on the cab over. They are in NO way perfect but I got it figured out so tonight I will be cutting the second one (opposite side) and I will be pulling the two side windows out so that I can put the wall up. Once the windows are cleaned up and painted (Thursday afternoon) I will cut the wall holes and put the walls back in place and put in the windows. At that point the cab over will be officially done (minus 1 section of the wall where the running lights are). I have done the entire cab over myself with absolutely no help. This weekend I plan to fill the holes from the tanks (under the original bathroom) and finish getting the shelf/wall removed so that I can get the rest of the carpet ripped up and start building the queen bed in the back of the camper. I will post the pictures of the cab over later tonight. JennRe: Complete remodel of my Class C 1983 HoneyI near Lansing and Flint. Kinda right in the middle lol!Re: Electrical questions 1983 Honey (LONG) toedtoes wrote: AngelsMama07 wrote: I plan on cheating with the lighting lol. I have spent more money on the repairs to the roof and now the whole inside that I don't have the funds to purchase a bunch of light fixtures and things. And I need to have the walls and things up by the end of the month (as well as the cupboards built and installed) so I'm actually just going to buy the battery powered lights and use velcro to place them under the cupboards and on my little kitchen area. Thanks for the info on the wiring! That's a lot of help! Don't bother with the velcro - it won't hold. The sticky part either gets too hot or too cold and ends up falling down. Instead, use the small screw to attach it. If you're going with battery lights, look for this one at Harbor Freight (doesn't have a remote but price is under $10): LED track light I have it installed inside my floor to ceiling pantry cupboard and it really makes seeing into the cupboard easy. Each light can be angled. If you don't put in more 12v lights now, I would at least run the wiring for more and tape them off. That way, you can easily add them later (instead of having to go through the new walls, etc.). When you add outlets, I would add at least two 12v outlets (cigarette lighter style) and two 12v usb outlets (you can get a panel with the 12v and 2 usb outlets on amazon for $12) - one set near your bed and one set near your dinette or counter (wherever you're most likely to set your phone down). I'm having the main light hooked to a light switch as there was absolutely none in there originally which annoyed me for walking (not a fan of having to walk in the dark to find a light). I've got 6 plug sockets set to be put in so that I've got plenty lol. Thanks for all your help!Re: Electrical questions 1983 Honey (LONG)I plan on cheating with the lighting lol. I understand the concept of electrical work but I'm looking more for a blueprint of the electrical system. Once I see one I can work with it to rewire my rv. I've spent way more money than I originally planned on this rv, and so I can't keep paying people to come do the work for me. When I am perfectly capible of doing it on my own. I just need to see a blue print or layout of the wiring.Re: Electrical questions 1983 Honey (LONG)It's a 1983 Honey Class C. I have no clue about electrical systems or anything but I feel I need to rewire the electrical for what I want to do.Re: Complete remodel of my Class C 1983 Honey Re: Complete remodel of my Class C 1983 HoneyI finally got the Rv all gutted!!! My concern is that the brakes would be wired into the engine electrical system and I have no clue how that works. Plus the majority of the wires are **** near the exact same colors throughout the entire rv.
