It works amazingly well and is billed as "nontoxic". It is available at major auto parts stores, including O'Reilly. That said, I used it to treat the insides of a small motorcycle gas tank, where the metal was immersed in the chemical for several hours. Not sure how it would work as a "brush on" treatment. But I suppose you could immerse your step in a pan or something.Re: Prairie Creek Redwoods St Park - DumpstationIf you can wait a bit longer to dump, there is a fabulous Caltrans rest area along Highway 299 that has a free RV dump station. It's the Francis B. Mathews rest area, 3 miles east of Salyer, right on Hwy 299. We were there just a few weeks ago, and I gotta tell y'all, it is probably the nicest Caltrans rest area I have ever seen, and I've lived in CA for 35 years. Beautiful setting, clean restrooms and grounds, and that free dump station. Highly recommended. Also, about 1.5 miles after you pass through Willow Creek going eastbound on 299 (some ways before you reach the rest area), keep an eye out for a small roadside bakery stand on the right side of the road. I think it's at the intersection of Burwood Dr. and Hwy 299. The owner, Corinne, is a professional pastry chef and you'll be amazed at the tarts, cookies, croissants and other goodies for sale in her little plywood shack. Don't pass it up if she's open! And best of all, there's a large dirt lot right next to her shack with room for an RV! :)Re: Truck registration in CaliforniaLooks like the DMV rules might allow you to register your truck noncommercial. Details here.Re: Wondering if my doggy is giong blind?Glaucoma is fairly common in certain breeds and it strikes very fast - much faster than in humans. I had a dog who went blind from this and she lost her sight before we even knew what was happening. If you think your pooch is losing her sight, do not waste any time getting him into a vet who specializes in eyes/vision. Most general purpose vets don't know enough about eyesight handlse this situation. If you catch it in time, glaucoma can be managed pretty well with daily medication. If the worst happens, know that dogs can actually manage very well without sight, because their powers of hearing and smell (especially the latter) are so much superior to ours.Re: New 5th wheel no tow vehicleSearch Cragislist in your area. I've noticed in my area (NorCal) quite a few folks are offering RV transport services.Re: Ford F250 2003 Truck Camper ChoiceGood discussion. I'm tuning in as well, since I'm on a similar quest for a camper to ride on my 2001 Dodge 3/4 ton SRW diesel. Question for sue.t: How accurate are the Adventurer listed dry weights, in your opinion? I spied a 2002 90FW model and company brochure lists a dry weight of 1937 pounds.Re: In the market for used smaller RV+1, nice writeup Ron, thanks for taking the time.Re: In the market for used smaller RVTake a look at Lazy Daze, very high quality Class C models. They make a 22-23 footer as well as a 26-footer. We owned their largest one, a 30-footer, and were very happy with it ... but it turned out to be more than we needed! If we had bought a smaller one, we'd still own it.Re: Making a living out of traveling the U.S. in a RVMany people are doing this now, thanks to the wonders of deals like the Amazon Affiliates program, which gives you a small cut of anything purchased on Amazon if the buyer first clicks through your personal blog. As for the example you cite, I've long been puzzled about that couple. They must have a trust fund or something to be able to afford a very expensive RV like that right out the gate, not to mention a brand-new toad. In addition, I believe they replaced the RV with another brand-new RV after just the first year or two - just because they wanted something different. I'm not criticizing -- to each his own -- just saying they probably do not make all their money with their blog/videos. Here's another such RVer I admire who is probably a more typical real-world example (including links to detailed monthly budgets): http://rvsueandcrew.net/Re: Another shock questionFYI - I just ordered a set of the 4600s for my truck (2001 Dodge Ram) from shockwarehouse.com and was informed that one pair (I believe it is the rears) is on national backorder, so my delivery is delayed 2-3 weeks. BTW, Geno's Garage does indeed sell the 4600 series Bilstein, but they list it as the "B6" series on their website.
