My inlaws got us 6 days in a Wyndham time share in DC so we need to find either a campground or storage facility for my 40' trailer for those days. does anyone have any suggestions?buffalo/ Niagara area and need a good rear end rebuild shopCan anyone recommend a good shop to possibly rebuild my excursion rear...??Can we bring meat, bacon , etc .. In freezerDoes anyone know I we can bring frozen foods such as meats into Canada ?Re: Excursion wheel adviceDoes anyone know the stud diameter of the ford SDs vs chevy /dodge?Excursion wheel adviceHello folks, I was wondering what everyone knew about the ford "hub centric" wheels vs aftermarket non-hub centric wheels. I read somewhere that the 99-04 super duty wheels needed to be hub centric so so that the studs don't shear? I just bought a 2003 excursion, with older American racing rims, non- hub centric . I will be towing my 11k Pound Jayco. Should I trade them for a set of stock rims? ThanksRe: ExcursionThanks folks.. The wife's every day driver is a Yukon and she treats like a Race car!!! She doesn't like driving my 7.3 f350 crew with the full 8' bed. Part of it is the nature of the slow winding diesel. The excursion would become her vehicle and i would keep my 7.3L. I agree with everyone that the 7.3 X's are set to tow but it is just tough to swallow $5 k more for a truck with an extra 50-75K miles on it .. Were the lower 4.11 or 4.3 gears a factory option for the V10s? I am a 3 generation RV camper.. With 3 young kids.. So yes I am in it for the long haul!! Might even consider picking up a real nice gas excursion and swapping motors down the lineExcursionHello everyone , I am currently hauling our 34' Jayco with a 99 f350 crew 7.3powerstroke. I am considering switching to the excursion even though it is more of a 3/4 ton truck. In the perfect world I would go for another 7.3 because it is a killer motor, however trucks are going for $4-5k more compared to the gas v-10 around me. The question is, does the v-10 really have the balls to pull 11k lbs through the hills of west Virginia , Tennessee ,etc.... ?thanksRe: Weight Distribution hitch..Just for those other people out there searching old threads!!! Figured I would give my results .. I went with the Reese 1200 straight line from amazon for $425. Best money I ever spent. I was really unhappy making the big upgrade to the 36' trailer after I used it twice with the old system . I still haven't had time to dial in the cams yet but it is like night and day!!!!!Re: Weight Distribution hitch..I am in the same situation with my new Jayco 314bhs. I got it with a set of 1200lbs round husky bars. My TV is a 99 f350 7.3PS, so I am not overly concerned. However I did read on this site that if you go to heavy with bars that damage can be incurred on the A-frame of the trailer. My old trailer I ran the older style Reese Dual cam with the hanging saddles. It worked great. I have 2 ball mount heads for my two different trucks. the big question is.... Does anyone know if the the new style Trunnion Bar castings fit the older Reese Heads? If so I am definitely sticking with Reese on my new trailer. I just wish they had something in between 1200 and 1700.... thanksRe: How do you level?I am a second generation RVer so yes I too have the milk crate assortment of 1xs, 2xs,4xs, and even a set of 5/4" stock. A set of each consists of a short(to go between wheels) and a little longer one for front or back. My last trailer, 26' Layton had very little twist so leveling was easy. My new monster, 314 Jayco w/ slides has proven to be a pain so far. We just took it out for the first time and was not happy with how much it moved around with even my 5 year old walking to the bathroom. I am still searching other threads about leveling and stabilizers with slide outs, and don't want to highjack this topic so I might start a new thread. Just wanted to also add that I have a method of leveling not mentioned yet.....out here on Long Island we do a lot of beach camping. So I just take a shovel and dig sand out from beneath the high side tires in place!!!!
