All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: 6 point Level up system - will it lift trailer?Almost four years ago Lippert changed out our axles, actually two times and another time to try to service the axles (after that fascicle, we changed to MOR/Rdye IS system). Every time, Lippert tech's used the LevelUp to change them out or to work on them!! Lippert manufactures the LevelUp, and we had it installed at their service center, just before we had problems with our axles. Because of health issues, we have had to be in one place for almost 2 years, (soon to change and we can get back on the road, LOL). I have always setup our 5th wheel with all wheels off the ground, with no problems, (believe it or not, ours is really more stable). Our LevelUp has never bled off, and I have measured time and again on all six jacks many times. Where we have been setup since in April 2014, none of the jacks have bled off at all. :) To person that posted about the LevelUp bleeding off, you need to call Lippert warranty, ASAP. Hope this helps and God bless, MikeRe: Should I use leveling system for tire repair/maintenance?We had axle problems two years ago. Lippert came 500 miles, to where we were to change out an axle (both had just been changed by Lippert from 7M to 8M#), so we could get back to their service center to replace them again, this happen on two separate times within one month. They used our LevelUp 6 jack system both times to completely raise our 5th wheel off the ground (it scales at 18,300) and work under it. These guys were Lippert employees!!! Also at their service center in Goshen, IN, again, they used the LevelUp to raise the 5th wheel completely off the ground and worked under it. Their answer, the jacks fully retracted still leave 12-18" of clearance under the 5th wheel and 4-6" or more under wheel hubs. But, it is impossible to have a complete failure of the system were all 6 jacks retract all at once, and IF they did, they would just stop at the bottom, not "bounce" lower then return up a little. They also said, if someone was concerned about a complete failure, use car stands beside each jack, equal to the 7,000#'s of the jack capacity. We have used our LevelUp many times to lift it completely off the ground. Where we are at present, because of health reasons, have had to be in the same place since middle of April 2014, with one side off the ground and it has not move at all, (because of the slop of the ground I cannot get both sides off the ground). But, I have measured and have markings on it to check if it does, it has not. Since 2012 when we had the LevelUp installed by Lippert, just for "grins and giggles" I have set up a different places for 3-6 months and have raised the unit completely off the ground, (never did any work under it but I would have if I had too). But, nothing move, had measurements and markings to check, plus, less movement in the 5th wheel. So I say all that to say, I personally would not hesitate at all, to lift it completely off the ground for any reason, long or short term. Both by the experience I have seen, and what the employees of the manufacturer of the system do at their service center and on the road. When our unit was there, there were "many" bosses, from operations, engineering, production plants, etc, all looking at what happened causing the problems with our 5th wheel axle's, while it was completely off the ground, and nothing was said about it being off the ground, and with no other "emergency" support system. Like stated in an earlier post, the "warning" is a disclaimer for Lippert. Like the 30 some "warnings" on any ladder. LOL But everyone has to make their own choice. Everyone has seen someone else do stupid stuff with car jacks, bottle jacks and floor jacks. But this system is nothing like those, kinda like comparing raisins and oranges. :B Hope this helps and God bless, MikeRe: Full remodel interiorCraig, We totally remodeled a 1991 Jayco. I actually did all the work myself. New cabinets, appliances, entertainment center, bathroom, floors (carpet and tile) and bedroom. Also have a cousin that buys "worn out" RV's and remodels them. Does a great job. Nothing to difficult about it, if can read a tape measure "wreaking" it out is easy. LOL If your not comfortable or don't have time, talk to a good, known handyman that has experience in remodeling, it does not have to be in RV's, but would help. The thing you have to remember is, everything is "patchable" or "fixable"! Don't hesitate to "jump in" and do it, if your game! In 2008 we ordered the unit we have now, I've been "remodeling" and adding since we picked it up. Plus, still have a "to do" list of remodels to do. Have changed a lot, and plan to keep it many years. Hope this helps and God bless, MikeRe: Better to lower hitch or raise pin box? When you do anything to the pin box (which is easy to do, even by yourself, I've done it) or the hitch, you should replace bolts, nuts and locks. Many times the threats on the nuts and bolts are gulled, and locks are collapsed. Then re-torque the new bolt's to standard spec's. Anytime you mess with any of the bolt's, nuts and locks you should replace. From the factory, they are a grade 5, but have even seen some grade 2, change to grade 8, it's a cheap investment in security and safety. You should be good to go. Safe travels! :) Hope this helps and God bless, MikeRe: DishwashersWe used a counter top unit for about 1 1/2, in our 5th wheel and loved it. Later, I did install the counter top unit in our 5th wheel. The oven "bit the dust", so we bought a three burn stove top, installing the dishwasher where the oven was. We lost one "useless cranny nook" below the old oven, worked great. The next 5th wheel we bought, we ordered without the oven, just the burner top, also ordered it with a convection oven. Then installed an 18" Frigidaire floor model, love it, as it has a lot more space. We are full time, but even if we were not, when you go on a family vacation or trip, it is a time for everyone to have fun, not someone to stand and wash dishes, even if it is "just" pans, and baking dish's, etc. Plus your not filling up land fills with plastic (that takes hundred's of years to dissolve, if they ever will) and paper stuff. Just both of our options! Hope this helps and God bless, Mike and JudyRe: Replacing coax?Mark, Just another thought. Does you roof antenna have a 12V booster in line? That may be your problem. Hope this helps and God bless, MikeRe: Replacing coax?Mark, After we received our new unit in 08, we changed our service with Dish to have a DVR as we were full time. When the Dish guys first came, they had problems getting a clear signal to the TV in the rear den and the bedroom, both. They sorted out what cable went where, and it was not labeled right from the factory. They traced the coax out, connected it and bingo all has worked right since. They did have to do a little "southern" engineering, to have the TV in bedroom working as the second TV with the DVR in the den, but it has for 6 years. Basically, you can disconnect both ends of your coax, short out one end and ohm out the coax to check if it good or not. If it is good, try connecting that piece to the equipment and see what you get. If it is not good, it is not easy but changing it out can be done. Most of the time it is run in the roof. But, if your outside connection is in the outside utility closet, you can go down. You have to remove the underbelly panels to where your entertainment system is, then go back up. You might want to run an extra cable, for just in case, LOL. Just thinking, you might want to put anything else think you might need inside the underbelly. Hope this helps God bless, MikeRe: electric waste valveDrain Master: http://www.drainmaster.com/site/products/mini-view2 They are top of the line. We have not any problems with them! When installed, don't skip any steps or improvise, follow the directions as stated and all will work perfectly. Hope this helps and God bless, MikeRe: Should I be concernedWe had similar problem. here are postings on another forum. The unit in the first part of the first posting and the second posting are other units that had similar problem. Our problem and solution, with pictures showing before and after the work was done.
