They seem to be doing just fine, even on the Autobahn. I have come to believe we over think this subject in the US. Just look at tow ratings outside the US on the same vehicles. Once again, if you don't have a 1 ton dually, you can't tow anything more than a utility trailer. How well trained we have become here, like sheep. Adam Seeing a small car in Europe towing a decent trailer can lead a yank to such conclusions. However, EU travel trailers are made with the axles closer to the TV, which reduces tongue weight. and towing speed limits are generally much lower than the US as well. That allows for smaller vehicle to tow but the same setup here in the US would have you white knuckling the whole way.Re: buying a popup needing canvasI've never heard a single complaint from many customers of Bear Creek Canvas. Call them and ask about it. There might be other options available. I've even heard of people buying sections over time with them.Re: Who has a door??2 used doors from the used parts section at Colemanpopupparts.com. Often missed.Re: Anyone have Viking or Clipper pup?I suppose the Clipper/Viking design could be the easiest way. What I meant was that when it comes to the actual amount of difficulty avoided or time saved by the Clipper/Viking i.e. Coachman design, its so small that the cable supported bunk feature would not factor into my decision of which pup manufacture I want to go with. Coachman has stepped up their pup game with now having a stepper door and I have heard good things with the "zero exposure" flooring, but they would probably still be the last manufacture I would go with. That's just me and my Coleman bias ;-)Re: Anyone have Viking or Clipper pup?Coleman, and now Somerset pups have the Back Saver system and self storing poles. You do not have to go under the bunks for setup and the poles store under the bunk. They stay attached so there's no fumbling with them or chance of forgetting them at home. I just mention that because I'm not sure how much "easier" it can get when setting up bunk ends on a pup.Re: Welp, Made it through the first use of pop up..I don't know what Jayco you have but using a WDH on a 1200-1600 lb pup is ridiculous. I'm sure that's a fictional "Dry Weight" but a WDH isn't what you need. Get that pup level or even tongue low an inch when towing and you should be fine... assuming you have proper tongue weight %.Re: Suggestions on a good cover for my Pop-UpBe sure to get a breathable cover that is designed for RVs and the weather you have. For example, Im in South Texas where I really need UV protection in a cover so I use an ADCO Tyvek cover. Camco and ADCO both have covers for snowy regions as well. I find the cheapest options are on Amazon.Re: Cleaning Outside Canvashttp://www.thepopupprincess.com/ has some great write ups on how to clean it. It also depends on what kind of canvas you have.Re: Tarping a pop-up Calicajun wrote: If you are talking about using a tarp when storing your pop-up, when yes. Have fun camping. Coleman specifically warns against the use of a tarp when storing due to heat and moisture buildup. A breathable cover made for RVs is what is recommended.Re: Ordered Pop Up Gizmo's today...Updated with PICSI generally won't camp without my SuperHighWind PUGs. With some modification, I leave them on full time so it is not a chore and setup maybe takes 30 seconds for 2.Velcro, Rings and Staples for PUGs Mods is basically all you need with the SHW version to leave on full time. You can get ithe velcro sewed on really cheap if you ask for it when ordering. Like $10. Also, on the PUGs website, it says "Please note, you do not need to flip the covers (silver side down) to reduce heat loss. We recommend the silver side of the covers be place outward for winter camping as well as summer camping."
