It was a positive change, certainly not a diesel pusher, but much better power and drivability. Milage went from 6.5/7 mpg in the Itasca to 9.5/10 mpg with the Tiffin, both hand calculated over 30 thousand miles driven in each. A little noisier than the workhorse chassis was, but their are several threads on quieting them down without breaking the bank. Maintainence cost a shade higher than a gas rig, but weigh that against having an effective exhaust brake along with the Cummins diesel/Allison combination. I would definitely do it again if I was in the market as the complexity of a DP doesn't appeal to me If you seriously are looking at the Tiffin, depending on year, check it over very carefully for recalls and repair of any factory problems.Re: Tow Haul button locationDidn't have a Newmar, but did have 2003 SOB with the W22 Workhorse chassis with 8.1 and Allison. As I recall, their was a switch on the dash labeled " O/D on off" or something close to that . It locked out the 5th gear overdrive and I as I recall gave you some engine braking on downgrades. You might have something similar on yours.Re: Class A Coach with 4 proper seats w/ seatbelts? From 2007 to 2010 or 11 Newmar offered a model much as you're looking for, the Allstar line. Check their brochure archives for those model years and look at the models 4154, 3959 and 3951, both have permenant sleeping arrangements for 4, and offered permenant seating for 4 in captains chairs. Not sure of your budget, but these would probably work for you. BruceRe: Sanitizing fresh water tank - no open inletLook in your owners manual, if you don't have one Tiffin has most of them available online. The oldest I could find on the Tiffin website was 2010, but it should give you a pretty good idea of the procedure to follow (chapter 11).Re: Class A with four 3 point seat belts (ie, shoulder straps)Not sure what you budget is, but Newmar had a model for a few years ( maybe 2006 thru 2010) called the Allstar I believe, which had some models with 4 captains chairs in the front. You can do an Internet search to see how they are configured, or look at the archives in Newmars site for their archive of old literature. I saw PPL in Texas had a diesel powered Simca from Safari with 4 captains chairs in the front, but it's a 38 foot toy hauler which might not fit your needs, although it's priced pretty well.Re: Camping near Minneapolis, MN, Recommendations please?Take a look at Town and Country Campground in Savage, it's a short drive to the Ames center, 10 minutes to Valley Fair, 20 minutes to the Mall of America, not sure about Water Parks in the area but their must be some, and 15 minutes to the new outlet mall. I've had friends stay their and haven't heard any complaints. Do a google maps search and look at it from overhead for an idea of what it's like. I also have a friend who stays at Lebonen Hills a couple times a year and always speaks very highly of it. Dakota Meadows is very nice, but more upscale. BruceRe: Location of 40 amp fuse for HWH LevelersOn my 03 Itasca Suncruiser thier was a fuse in a weatherproof fuse holder in line, on the black wire running to the pump, probably within a couple of feet of the pump assembly located in front of the radiator, had to crawl under from the front of the MH to get at it. BruceRe: Question on fuel consumed by our generator AND ??Looking at the Onan specs on-line, consumption for a carbureted 7.0 gen set are .4 gallon per hour at no load, .7 gps at half load and 1.2 gps at full load, per their document a-1426.phf. Yours could be different depending on which gen set you have. If in the large bag of documents Tiffin supplied with your new coach you did not get an owners manual for your specific gen set I would highly recommend going on line to Onans website and downloading the appropriate manual, it has a wealth of information that could prove helpful.
