A/Cs, Now I know something.Re: What to do with my hitchSure, you can leave it in the truck bed. Exposed to the weather, not being used, in the way of other loads. I hang mine from the 5th wheel king pin. Put it back in the truck in the spring.Re: New Truck 4x4 or 4x2 ??I have only REALLY needed 4 wheel drive 4 or 5 times in the last 10 years. So I guess some would say I don't need it, and I could have saved money by not getting it. But I think that having 4 wheel drive those 4 or 5 times was worth every bit extra that it cost. Plus you can't put a price on the peace of mind that comes with knowing you can get out of a slick spot when you need to...JimRe: Greetings and weight questionThanks for the update Big D. I was following your post, and hoping you would make the right decision without me adding to the clutter, and YOU DID. Don't be surprised if you find yourself traveling farther, and staying away from home longer.....JimRe: AUXILiARY FUEL TANKRDS 60 gal/tool box, gravity feed, diesel only, installed with northern freight install kit. I've been using it since 2006, and would not be without it. I like to switch it on to refill the main tank when we stop for lunch (Takes about 30 minutes). Then I fill the aux tank when we go out for supper at our campground. I like to start the next day with 80 gals.Re: Backing a 5th wheel up a Steep DrivewayYeah, planks to raise the rear up was my first thought also. But since the trailer see-saws on the wheels, that would lower the front of the trailer, hitting the truck rails maybe. Sorry, I've got no answer but to try it.Re: Hurrican FlorenceI like to think I'm wiser in my old age, but maybe I'm just more cautious. If I knew the hurricane was headed to me, I would load the camper up and go camping, about 300 miles inland. Come back home when services have been restored, and see if you need to call the insurance company. Having "hunkered down" thru several hurricanes, I can tell you thru experience that there is no reason for you to "live thru it ". There isn't a darn thing you can do to fix problems as they occur. So since you have to wait until the storm has passed anyway, you might as well wait where it's safe and comfortable.Re: Truck limitGood thinking Rick. Use the tool that will do the job, and then some, JimRe: Atwood water heater 10 galOld Biscuit, I measured from the kitchen sink tap into a container.Re: Atwood water heater 10 galI used to think that my water heater was too hot until I measured it with a food thermometer. It was right at 120 degrees. just where it should be, so my equipment was working like it should. I did not consider adding a mixing valve because my wife likes to scald dirty dishes, and I'm not dumb enough to tell her how to do it.
