While preparing for our last trip I noticed that two of bolts fasteners holding the coroplast had pulled through leaving large holes in the coroplast. When I loosened the bolts I noticed that they seemed to be hanging loosely and not threaded into the frame or anything solid , like they might be toggle bolts. Fearing that if I removed them totally I would not be able to get them back in I just loosened them enough to slide a 1/4 inch thick plywood disc under them and retightened them. I made the discs about 4 inches in diameter with a slot from the perimeter to the center just wide enough to slit onto the boltRe: Keystone Springdale furnaceMy Passport TT had same problem, found switch at back of furnace which I turned off and on and that fixed it. switch is very hard to see but was accessible once I removed panel under under frigRe: Crater Lake, OR routeMaking first trip to Oregon next month, suggestions for other things to see? Looks like Crater Lake may still be iffy due to weather. Thinking about driving up the coast to Olympic NP then down to Portland and east along Columbia River Gorge.Re: Dash CamGot my dash cam after a truck on I-75 realized he was in a turn lane and swerved into my lane striking my vehicle with his trailer tire. He slowed down and acted like he was going to stop but when I pulled off the road he sped up. The traffic was too heavy and I was too shaken to try to catch him. I called the police and made a report but did not have his license number or good description of the truck. Also, if Bigfoot ever crosses the road in front of me, I'm ready!Trailer tail light staying onI had to replace the 7pin connector on my trailer that connects to the tow vehicle. Everything works fine when connected to the tow vehicle (2014 F-150) but when I disconnect the trailer and go on battery power the right tail light on the trailer stays on. Any suggestions for troubleshooting this other than redoing the plug?Re: New to TT campingWe have a 3 year old Passport 23ft bunk house and are pretty happy with it. If you are over 6 ft tall check the bed sizes by laying on them, some so called queen beds are NOT! Get a slide out! Have fun!Re: Replacement gate valve handles rockhillmanor wrote: They usually break right after when they start getting hard to push in and out. Which usually means there is stuff/tp paper caught around the valve blade and/or the valve blade seat. Which is why they are not closing smoothly. The harder you have to push the more pressure you put on the cheap thin rod and they break. I routinely take a long bottle type brush and run it up the y-pipe and brush around the opening for each tank.(valves open, need tanks empty to do this :W) I also spray the rod on the handles with silicone. But it still has been my experience that once they start getting hard to push in it's going to be time for valve replacements and/or cleaning or the rods will ultimately break. Thanks for the tipsReplacement gate valve handlesBoth the gate valve handles on my two year old Passport travel trailer broke off. The metal shafts were made of aluminum and just snapped off where they attached to the metal rod coming from the valve. I tried replacing them with extension kits from Camping World but because my undercarriage is insulated and only about 3/4 inch of the rod extends from the valve it was difficult to keep them on since they attach with a set screw. Unable to find suitable replacements I went to the hardware store and bought two 1/4" x 6 " J-bolts and two 1/4" x 1" sleeve nuts. I put some lock-tite on the J-bolts, screwed the nuts half way on the J-bolts then screwed the assembly onto the valve rods.Re: TowingMy 2004 6-cyl F-150 pulled a 19ft Antigua from TN to Alaska and back, New England and back (twice), Louisiana and back, and Florida and back plus short trips and a 24ft Passport Ultralite to Calif and back and is still going strong at 160,000 miles. I never felt like it was really straining in the mountains and did not have any mechanical problems until last year(busted intake gasket) and minor transmission problem this year. Average 9-10 mpg towing. That being said, I am looking for replacement TV and will probably get 8 cyl, or 6 cyl with Eco boost or Hemi. Since I want something I can carry my kayaks on and have more passenger room, I am looking at Expedition, Yukon or Durango, etc.Re: Scam artistThat's why I traded my old camper into the dealer for the new one, didn't want to fool with all the scam artists.
