I have used a 20k Curt in both of my last two long bed Fords. Just order the truck with 5th wheel prep and the hitch drops/locks right in.

You need to coat that wood with something to protect it. The bottom of my slides are coated with some sort of plastic, maybe you could use something like mine has?

A simple window unit will work fine if you insulate your trailer project really well. It will also be super cheap/easy to replace later if it ever dies.
