About a 300# base weight difference. There is very little difference between the way they feel on the highway. Fuel mileage is only slightly (1mpg?) worse. Offroad there is a little more rocking with the hard side but that is an acceptable trade off for me in exchange for the convenience, quietness and insulation of the hard side. The only real difference is the added height of the hard side if in low-canopy trees or tight rock walls on the side of the trail. Really not an issue on most FS roads I've been on. Feel free to pm me if questions.Re: 2005 2WD 2500 Ram Crew Cab HD SLT SB Auto CumminsBack to the OP's question about which Lance model, I have a similar truck (2006 4WD with SuperSprings and Big Wig anti-roll bar) and a camper similar to the 825. That camper is as big and heavy as I would want to go on this truck when you consider all the stuff you are likely to bring along.Re: Do you lock your turnbuckles? No condensation issues since then so the Hyper Vent is doing what it was designed for. I like to think heated air circulating under the mattress warms it up, but with the blankets/sleeping bag overhanging the mattress not much air actually moves. The topper typically starts out below 40F and stays cold pretty long. I might try a heated mattress pad under the memory foam topper.Re: Wave Heater InstallI have the same Laredo camper and have been considering a Wave or Platcat- that was a clever solution for placing the heater, being able to direct it, and keeping it away from dogs.Re: Pop Up Soft Side Campers in the WinterI had a Hallmark Milner for several years and their softwall is much better insulated than my buddy's Northstar. Outfitter also has a nicely insulated softwall. The furnace kept up even below 0F but condensation can be an issue when it's below freezing. I currently have a Northstar hard side- warmer, quieter, more room...Re: Forward to the past....Looking good on the bike Buzz! The cost of truck repairs is nothing compared to the cost of health "repairs".Re: TC Add-A-Step modThanks for this post. I want to do something similar because my 5-tread scissor steps are inconvenient to store and rarely are level when extended. I think you hit the nail on the head.Re: 2006 Hallmark Ute rotted wood repairThat was an incredible amount of work. My hat's off to you!Re: So what did you do to your Truck Camper today?Installed some HyperVent under mattress to minimize condensation. Looking forward to cooler camping!
