Stainless Steel Screw Standards
I purchased a large quantity of #8 stainless steel screws from BOLT DEPOT, to replace screws in my 14 year old 5th wheel. Most of the original screws had severe rust problems. Even screws that were covered with plastic trim, the heads were OK, but the tips had rusted down past the threads. When I tried to use the screws, I had terrible results with the heads stripping out and 1 just snapped. I had only used 5 screws, then I realized that it would be foolish to replace approximately 300 screws with junk. The new stainless steel screws could be picked up with a magnet. Having had good luck with Graingers on other products; I decided I would check their web site. The following is a sample of 2 screws they offer: Stainless Steel Tapping Sheet Metal Screw with Pan Head Type and Plain Finish $23.55 pkg of 50 Stainless Steel Tapping Sheet Metal Screw with Pan Head Type and Plain Finish $14.05 pkg of 100 The first screw is priced at $.47 per screw, while the second screw is priced at $.14 per screw.. The Descriptions are identical and there are others priced between those two. How can I determine which screw is the proper value? Don't waste your money on a large inverter unless you have a means to recharge it. I bought a refurbished 2500 watt Xantrex (online)and (3) 12volt 8D AGM batteries and boondock. The inverter has a 100 amp charging ability. It takes about an hour to recharge every morning when camping. I use a 2K Honda for the recharging, I use the generator for the Microwave. If you have access to the AC wiring in the RV; install the inverter after the AC, water heater and other high power appliances. I've been using this setup for over 12 years and the batteries are still holding up. The inverter keeps the batteries charged when parked.570Views0likes0CommentsRe: Propane tank gauge
Mine have worked fine for 12 years.. As far as I can tell they operate on the surface temperature of the tank. With a little practice you could use a laser thermometer. Haven't tried but would think you could use a hairdryer or heat gun instead of hot water for the heat source.487Views0likes0CommentsReplacement 1.2 cu ft microwave oven
The key pad on my 2004 Samsung over the range microwave quit working on almost all buttons and the part is no longer available. I thought I could simply replace the microwave oven. But I cannot find an Over the Range model that will fit in the existing cabinetry. A majority of the older RVs have a 3 burner range that is only 22 inches wide and have microwave ovens that are about 23" wide. Most "Over the Range models" are for use over a 30" range.. Camping World's Dometic Convection Microwave with Black Trim Kit will fit. [COLOR=]But I would lose the over the range light and vent fan and require building a cabinet to house the oven I am sure I am not the first person to experience this problem! New format is lame, I for one do not see any improvement. Old or New Format> Their filters are a joke, You need a filter for each email address. There is no way that you can keep up eliminating unwanted emails. The contacts list should specify which folder a received email goes into. If an email is received from someone not in your address book it should end up as spam or in a folder named unknown, based on their spam filter. That way you could control your inbox. Each day I have to delete 10 or 12 emails from companies that I am not interested in.481Views0likes0Comments
