All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsvery high fifth wheel and bridge concernsWell it won't be long till we finally take our maiden voyage with our new Big Country. This fiver is much higher than our old Citation. Hubby measured including air conditioners it is 13 '6. Im very concerned that we will get ourselves in a jam if we don't seriously map out our trips. Do any of you use a truckers GPS that you can input your route and it lets you know which roads to avoid due to low bridges. I must say this is freaking me out a bit. Any help would be greatly appreciated.height of rigMy hubby just measured our Big Country's height. 13' 6". Thats pretty high in my book. What do you guys use to help navigate and stay away from low bridges? We certainly don't want to rip the air conditioner off.Re: carpet??We just picked up our custom ordered Big Country and had minimal carpet. I bought a large lightweight area rug that can easily be picked up and shaken out. We dry camp a lot so we just want to sweep. Hope you get what you wantRe: Who buys an RV from an RV show?We bought ours at the Hershey show. I did my research for months before we went so we could focus on just looking at the 3 that interested us. We custom ordered what we wanted and will be going to pick it up this week. Good luckRe: Retiring 2015 - 5'er Advice/Experience SolicitedWe are getting ready to pick up our custom ordered 35 ft Big Country 3150RL. We went to the Hershey Show in Sept. and ordered exactly what we needed and wanted. Since I just retired as well, we will have more opportunity to hit the road. We are excited about the 6 pt leveling system as well. We did not like the vessel bathroom sink so they built it with a regular sink instead. We dry camp a lot so we needed the large fridge that runs on propane. Another extra that was a must for us was a booth dinette. (we love company and need the sleeping for our guests). Since we camp at the beach, we also requested minimal carpet in the living area. The only thing the company was not able to do for us was to put in a full kitchen sink or one with a 30/70 split. soooo.... it's a 50/50 2 bay sink. In the scheme of life, it's really no big deal. Well, we're hoping Wednesday is our day to head to NY to get our new baby. Wish us luck, and good luck with your decision.Re: Ordered our new rig at the Hershey ShowOur custom items weren't unique just must haves for us. We didn't want a table and chairs so we ordered a dinette booth. We also prefer less carpeting so there will be laminate throughout the kitchen/living room. We also we disliked the new glass bowl bathroom sink so we opted to get the "regular" sink. We also don't like the regular split kitchen sink so we want either a full sink or 30/70 split. So not too many changes just ones that meet our style of camping.Re: Retiring 2015 - 5'er Advice/Experience SolicitedWe just ordered our Big Country from the Hershey show. It was an easy decision after walking through some of the competitor rigs. We are both retired now and our style of camping is about to change as well. Here we go...Ordered our new rig at the Hershey ShowWell we did it! Trading in our 2003 38 ft. Citation and getting a new Heartland Big Country 3150 RL. It was great seeing the quality of the different units and finding one that fits our needs. So thrilled that we can custom order exactly what we need for our style of camping. Thank you Joel for spending so much time with us. Now we wait....buying at RV showsMy husband and I are are going to the RV show in Hershey next week. How many of you have purchased your 5th wheels from a show? I'm concerned that in case we need service, the dealer will be too far from our home . Also are the deals that good or should we just go to narrow down our search.
