We have plenty of solar and 6 lithium batteries for extended boondocking if we can just find places along the route to pull into for the night.Re: Salt Lake to Elkhart, IA Travel AdviceEdd505 what places did you find on the route across 80 to stay at? Curious as to how many miles a day you drove and the places you stayed.Re: Salt Lake to Elkhart, IA Travel AdviceYes, I meant Elkhart Indiana not Iowa. Sorry about putting wrong state abbreviation in ioriginal post.Salt Lake to Elkhart, IA Travel AdviceMy wife and I will be taking our 44’ 5th wheel from Salt Lake City to Elkhart, IA in late October for a suspension upgrade at the Morryde facility. We are going to allow ourselves 4 days to get there traveling I-80. Our plan is to boondock along the way with Cheyenne, Omaha, Davenport as our tentative stopping points before reaching Elkhart. Having never driven east on 80 past Lincoln, NE, I am seeking advice on do’s & don’ts along the route into Elkhart. The part that worries me most is around the Chicago area. Any helpful tips or safe places to stay along the route are appreciated!Going Fulltime in Spartan ToyhaulerThe wife and I are planning to FT in our 2015 Spartan 1032 TH next year. We have had the Spartan for 4 camping seasons and overall it has held up very well. Most of our camping has been boondocking in rugged mountain and desert areas of Utah. We plan to haul our 2017 RZR XP 1000 with us in the garage everywhere we go so we will be running pretty heavy at all times. I have already upgraded the trailer tires to Goodyear G614's a couple years ago and have 600 watts of solar on the roof for our energy needs. So far our longest trip hauling the rig has been 4.5 hours from Salt Lake City to Moab and back. To prepare our rig for fulltime use, I would like to find out if there are any modifications we should consider doing before going fulltime? We anticipate going just about anywhere in the US once we hit the road. Most likely I will be upgrading the tow vehicle from our present 3500 GMC SRW to a Ram 3500 DRW. Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions!Re: Sliding Glass Door RemovalYes I did. The top & bottom track seem to be deeper than in residential construction. I understand why it is made this way but want to find out how to remove them if anyone has ever done this. I plan to call the dealer and possibly the manufacturer next week to find out if removing them myself is a possibility.Sliding Glass Door RemovalI have a 10' garage in my TH that is separated from the living area with sliding glass patio doors. I would like to remove the sliding doors to be able to fit a RZR 1000 XP in the garage and was wondering if anyone else had done this in their TH and how much of a pain it was to remove them from their tracks?Re: Prime Time Spartan Question(s)Sorry I have not been on the forum in a week. I am the owner of a 2015 Spartan 1032. Here are the answers to your questions if you didn't find out from anyone else already: 1. There is a slide out pantry next to the frig. 2. Yes you can access the frig with main slide in through the rear door going in to the garage. 3. No, sofa is fine for us. 4. Fit & finish was good. Just a couple minor things that the dealer took care of under warranty. 5. Very few items needed repair after PDI. Our Spartan has been very good so far after 2 years of use. The tires that come standard are Towmax aka Blowmax. I replaced them last year with GY G614's & sold the original blowmax's. The brown nose cap started fading at the top. I found this to be a common complaint of Forest River RV's with dark caps. After it being out of warranty by almost a year, Primetime has authorized the dealer to paint the nose cap under warranty which is due to be done in 2 weeks. I love my 1032 but most likely will not get another 5th wheel with a dark cap due to the heat it attracts. I always try to park with the nose facing north if possible in the BLM & NFS places we like to camp. I have had quite a few people tell me they wish they had looked at Spartan's after looking at mine and I would definitely buy another when it is time to move up.Re: Good ole BlowMax tiresI have the Spartan 1032 and was told by a Spartan Rep at the local RV show that the stock wheels were rated for 110 PSI. I changed out my Blowmax's and put GY G614's on last season. I ran them all last season @ 110 PSI and so far they have been flawless.Re: Looking for feedback on a new toy haulerI bought my 2015 Spartan TH from General RV in Draper. So far, so good on warranty service with them. The manufacturers seem to be the ones to worry about with a new unit. Mine was put together pretty good and I have had only minor issues so far. If you are looking at new models, go to the RV show at the end of February in Sandy. You will get the best prices from the dealers at the show. If you are looking at used models, the dealers have plenty of trade-in's to choose from after the RV show also.
