I decided to take US85 to I-94 and spend the night in Dickinson, then head east on I-94 and up I-29. That way we get to see some different area, as this is our first time in this part of the country. Our actual destination is near Emerado, ND just west of Grand Forks.Rapid City, SD to Grand Forks, ND best route? When leave Rapid City, SD we'll be heading to the Grand Forks, ND area for a family reunion. Any recommendations on the best route? Tentatively, planing to go up US-85 and take I-94 east stopping in the Bismarck, ND area. I chose US-85 because it looks to have a decent number of truck stops for diesel for our class C with diesel. Any of the more direct routes seem to be out in the middle of nowhere and no towns of any great size for fuel. Good Sam Trip planner routed me up thru Dickinson, ND, but there is a low clearance RR overpass coming in the south-side of town that has to be avoided.Re: Williams AZ to Suwanee GAThere is great campground west of OK City at Weatherford, OK called Wanderlust Crossings. It just opened in early 2017. There is not much to see in the area, but it is one of the best RV campgrounds the I've seen. It is fr enough off I-40 to be very quiet. The family that built it, were Class A owners and used their experiences to put all the needed features in for big rigs. We stayed there with our class C towing on our way from Nashville, TN to Las Vegas in October 2017.Re: natchez trace highwayThe northern most part of the Trace has lower speed limit (40) as you're getting in closer to Nashville. There is not any direct interchanges from the Nashville interstates to the Trace, check your maps first. The northern exit is at on Hwy. 100 near the Loveless Cafe on the extreme SW side of Metro Nashville. The NPS site has good info: https://www.nps.gov/natr/index.htmRe: Battery disconnect and Backup for tow vehicle (Ford)My Honda CR-V already had a switch mounted under the dash. (Previous owner towed this car and had baseplate and aux tail/brake lights installed). When towing, the key is left in the ACC position and the transmission is left in Neutral. Pulling the fuse (or in my case) flipping the switch, keeps the clock/radio from draining the Honda's battery. I have noticed that when I flip it to the cut-out position the clock's time display stops advancing. When we park at a campground, I put the Honda in Park (so i can lock it up) and flip the switch back on, the clock display updates to the correct time. No radio presets are lost. Whoever wired in that switch, knew what they were doing.Re: Towing using a tow bar behind a class CHonda CR-V with automatics are flat towable up thru the 2014 model year. 2015 and later have a CVT. We tow a 2014 behind our Class C Thor Citation Sprinter and hardly know it's there. Honda does not recommend towing the CR-V faster than 65 mph, but we don't mind as we're not in that big a hurry. The Sprinter 3500 diesel tows it great even thru the mountains. Mileage on the MH doesn't seem to be impacted much at all. I keep the rear camera on all the time just to know that it's still there. Blue-Ox base plate was already on the CR-V when we bought it Cert Pre-Owned from Dealer. Roadmaster Falcon 2 tow-bar with Blue-Ox ears SMI Stay-N-Play auxiliary braking system.Re: Power Problems at CampgroundSounds just like a problem I had in February 2018 when were staying a couple of days near Epcot. It was unseaonably hot and humid in Florida for February. We had the 1 A/C running in the late afternoon after got settled in. The CG 30 amp breaker kept tripping when we would run the microwave or TV. I was pretty sure all was ok with my 2017 Class C as we had been out to NM, AZ and NV and never had a problem with the A/C. Since we were going to be at Epcot all day the next day and leave our dog in side, I wanted to be sure the A/C stayed on. I used my 50amp-30amp adapter and switched to the 50 amp outlet on the post. Problem solved. I called the CG office and reported to them the issue the 30 amp breaker.Re: Def fluidI stopped buying the Peak brand, even at Walmart. Figuring the $/gallon price, it is cheaper just to buy it at the truck stop at the same time I am re-fueling. My Mercedes Sprinter has a builtin gauge in the instrument panel that allows me to see the DEF level (plus there is a dash light that comes on warning the DEF is getting low). I know that I need to top off the DEF when I've gone around 6,000 miles. I usually stop at Pilot/Flying J or Love's for fuel. The DEF is way cheaper, there, and can count on it being fresh, plus i don't have to find a place to store the box in one of the basement compartments, if I don't use the whole box.
